Job Description

Position Title: Safety Manager Prepared FoodsPosition Type: Regular - Full-TimePosition Location: Florenceville Prepared FoodsRequisition ID: 25690McCain Foods (Canada) is currently looking for a Safety Manager to join our leadership team at Prepared Foods in Florenceville-Bristol, NB! As the successful candidate, you will be responsible for the full development and oversight of the healthamp; safety strategy for Florenceville Prepared Foods. In this position, you will report to the Plant Manager with a dotted line to Regional Safety Leadership. You will lead with a proactive approach of continuous improvement in the areas of health, safety and security and ensure emergency preparedness, crisis management, audit readiness and compliance with applicable regulatory guidelines.   • Fosters and develops a culture where Safetyamp; health are ingrained as a core value with all employees, everyone believes zero is achievable, actively engaged in performing their work in a safe manner and preventing at-risk behaviors.
  • Ensures compliance with local, provincial, and federal safety regulatory requirements. Acts as the initial plant representative in the event of regulatory inspections and engages with stakeholders in and outside the plant, including functional corporate team, Legal and community resources. Develops and implements processes and procedures to ensure facility, employee and contractor compliance with company and regulatory agencies.
  • Collaborates with other facility functions, (engineering, maintenance, quality assurance, etc.) to ensure new products, capital projects and functional activities are aligned with facility safety objectives and injury prevention.
  • Facilitates employee safety committees and acts as a resource for department safety meetings held by Line Supervisors and/or the Health and Safety department.
  • Utilizes internal and external resources in the development of building a sustainable comprehensive health and safetyamp; security program. Stays abreast of pending developments in the health and safetyamp; security area that could impact the plant via professional associations, workshops, etc.
  • Learns and develop the key skills required to implement continuous improvement disciplines into the safety improvement process. Participates and coordinates activities such as training/education in various continuous improvement processes.
  • Develops and utilizes tools that will maximize the effectiveness and measurement of progress with leading and lagging indicators.
  • Manages Worker #39;s Compensation in partnership with Risk Management.
  • Plans, budgets and executes specific programs and activities to prevent employee injury and illness and increase employee well-being. Programs should target employee responsibility for individual safety and focus on both on-the-job and off-the-job activities that influence employee health.
  • Ensures compliance with governmental and Company security requirements. Manages in-plant security systems and the security team. Conducts regular security audits and ensures proper corrective action is taken. Provide assistance in the area of Food Safetyamp; Security as may be necessary or requested.
  • Ensures plant emergency action and crisis management plan is up to date and that the management team is prepared to respond to emergencies. Annually develops and conducts periodic crisis drill simulations.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor #39;s degree in Business Administration focus on Safety or Advanced Safety Certificate, Certified Safety Professional or equivalent experience as a safety professional.
  • 5 - 7 years of progressive and applicable experience in the safety field required.
  • Knowledge of New Brunswick provincial safety requirements and worker #39;s compensation required.
  • Good working knowledge of human resources information systems, Excel, Access, Word, and PowerPoint required.
  • Training experience an asset.
