Job Description

Position Title: Safety CoordinatorPosition Type: Regular - Full-TimePosition Location: Florenceville Prepared FoodsGrade: Grade 04Requisition ID: 16575McCain Foods (Canada) is currently seeking a Safety Coordinator to join our team, in Florenceville-Bristol, N.B. The incumbent will play a critical role in our plant safety culture to ensure that everyone goes home safely to their family each day. This position reports directly to the site Safety Manager with dotted line reporting to the Prepared Foods Plant Manager.As the ideal incumbent, you will:Develop, maintain and continuously improve safety program, policies and proceduresDeliver plant orientation and required safety training, i.e. regulatory, job specific, etc.Accident/incident investigationWork with Safety Dept. to schedule and/or deliver training initiatives such as; Lift truck, first aid, WHMIS, LOTO, etc.Assist in maintaining JHA’s, LOTO procedures, CDAs and PSAsAssist management teams and associates in promoting a healthy and safe work environment by overseeing all aspects of Health and Safety at the Florenceville Prepared Foods facility and act as a resource to the Joint Health and Safety Committee.Ensure compliance with federal, provincial and municipal regulations, and McCain Foods Canada and Global Health and Safety policies, by working with business partners to train, implement and institutionalize changes and continue to build safety program essentials.Act as an Company liaison with various governmental agencies as required and appropriateEnsure compliance with federal, provincial and municipal regulations, and McCain Foods Canada and Global Health and Safety policies, by working with business partners to train, implement and institutionalize changes and continue to build safety program essentials.To be successful in this role, you will possess:A minimum of 3 years’ experience and a proven track record of successfully leading Health and Safety programs and compliance in a manufacturing environment. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered for the right individual.Post-Secondary education, preferably in Occupational Health & Safety, or related technical discipline.Professional certification is desired but not necessary however the desire to obtain is needed. (i.e. Canadian Registered Safety Technician - CRST, or Certified Safety Professional)Experience in a manufacturing environment is desiredExcellent communication skills – both written and oral.Strong interpersonal skill/customer skills and the ability to lead and influence teams, drive change and interact cross-functionallyExcellent organizational and time management skills with ability to prioritize and drive multiple initiativesSound knowledge of the Occupational Health & Safety, Workplace Health & Safety and Insurance Acts, OSHA and Human Rights Legislation.Strong computer skills, with good working knowledge of Power Point, word, excel and database programs.The health and safety of McCain employees and their families has been our number one priority since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.
