Job Description

Full-time EA/ TA for the Elementary Classroom St-Laurent Academy Inc. is in need of an Education Assistant Role:

  • Grow, develop, guide, teach, and inspire students in all areas of academicsamp; social/ environmental well-being. (Academicsamp; Learning Skillsamp; Work Habits).
  • Discuss, implement, and facilitate student IEPS in conjunction with the teacher, the parent(s), and the student. This includes connecting with and nurturing relationships with our external professionals. (Psychologists, Organizations, etc).
  • Support our students in their overall academic, social, emotional, and behavioural needs.
  • Liaise continually with the Administration, Head of Resources, and Lead Teacher in all areas of IEP facilitation.
  • Help to implement new and upcoming strategies, as well as current best practices to support children with ADHD, Dyslexia, Dysgraphia, ASD, and other learning/behavioral challenges.
Key Skills/Abilities:
  • Well organized.
  • Strong classroom management skills.
  • Ability to connect with all student profiles.
  • Clear and engaging communication skills.
  • Well-versed in differentiation and instruction at all levels.
  • Working knowledge of IEPs.
  • Strength facilitating online and in-person.
Note: our team has been teaching both online and in-person (simultaneous) for a number of years, pre-covid.Characteristics:

  • Creative and inspiring with lessons and within student interactions.
  • Team player, kind, flexible, respectful of all (students, parents, teachers, administration, external professionals, etc), and FUN!
Requirements:
  • EA designations and/or certifications are key.
  • Special Ed experience is essential.
  • Google Suite of Programs is important to the delivery of all our programs in-person and online (Google Classroom, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Forms, Meets, and Google Readamp; Write).
Additional Information:
  • Opportunity to remain part of the school team going forward.
  • 7:50 am - 3:30 pm core time.
  • 1:1 and small group facilitation.
  • Facilitation (pull out) and in-class connections.
  • Opportunity (if desired) to work during Summer - run a summer program/course/tutoring/etc. (additional remuneration provided).
