Job Description

Full Time High School Senior Math, Scienceamp; Chemistry Tutor/TA. St-Laurent Academy is hiring a full-time High School team member for the 2024 - 2025 academic school year, with the opportunity to transition into a full teaching post in the coming year. *Please visit our website (www.st-laurentacademy.com) as well as our Instagram page.What we can offer:

Job details include:
  • Supporting the lead teacher in the planning (short and long range plans), delivering (dynamic lesson plans) and assessing curriculum (using rubrics and direct understanding of the Ontario Curriculum).
  • Supporting the lead teacher in facilitation of safe and effective Science labs.
  • Helping identify and integrating experiences outside of the classroom to enrich the curriculum lessons. This can include bringing in specialists or special guest to enrich learning.
  • Ensuring the follow up and support of students who may be having difficulty in the course and ensuring success.
  • Supervision duties. (these allows for a different type of interaction with students and builds community and connection).
  • Potential attendance at Parent teacher meetings.
  • Reporting.
The ideal candidate will have:
  • Tutoring experience at a High School Level.
  • Qualifications in Intermediate/Senior Math and Chemistry.
  • Enthusiastic and energetic, with the desire to jump in and support students and the school when needed.
  • Experience in planning, facilitating and assessing units according to the Ontario Curriculum.
  • Experiencequot;enriching quot; base curriculum, to create dynamic lesson plans and push students further.
  • A proven ability to work with students who require support and /or have an IEP (Individual Education Plan).
  • French (or a second language) is an asset, but not required.
  • Experience using the full Google suite of products (Google Classroom, Pages, Docs, Slides, etc.), as well as SmartBoard Technology.
  • WHMIS and Workplace Healthamp; Safety certificates.
