The opportunityAn exciting opportunity exists in our Engineering department within the Metals division for a Control Systems Specialist located in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta. This is an operational technology (OT) focused role and provides management and administration of the control systems operational technology within the Process Control Domain (PCD). Our standard work schedule includes a full-time on-site presence to foster collaboration and community. We recognize the importance of flexibility in today’s dynamic work environment. We offer adaptable flexibility to ensure that our team members can succeed while balancing personal commitments.In this role, you will be accountable for:

  • Managing cybersecurity, distributed control systems (DCS), process control networks (PCN), historian and third-party systems (PLC, MCC, BLAN, Cloud, etc.) that interface with the PCN.
  • Designing and sustaining control system architecture in accordance with OT frameworks (NIST SP 800-82, IEC 62443).
  • Supporting emerging technologies, such as advanced process control (APC), ISA100 / HART, and wireless technologies.
  • Identifying and addressing health, safety, and environmental risks, and opportunities for improvement, while ensuring compliance with all safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
  • Communicating improvements and issues with existing standards, processes, and procedures, fostering continuous improvement.
  • Investigating and implementing new technologies and procedures to improve reliability, productivity, and performance.
  • Troubleshooting and improving control system software, data collection, and reporting systems to minimize production loss.
Skills and attributes for success:
  • Bachelor #39;s degree in Computer or Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Process Control, or a diploma combined with experience in computer systems or engineering technology.
  • P.Eng or EIT designation with APEGA is preferred.
  • 5+ years of process plant experience; DCS vendor apparatus experience required.
  • Experience architecting, administering, and evolving operational technology (OT) systems with a focus on reliability, availability, and security.
  • Effective troubleshooting skills with the ability to recommend improvements or field repairs.
  • Strong project management, communication, troubleshooting, and commissioning skills.
