Located at the Site C Dam, Peace River Hydro Partners is the prime contractor on the BC Hydro Site C Clean Energy Project. You will be responsible for environmental monitoring of a variety construction projects to ensure compliance with environmental protection plans.   • Implementation of construction environmental plans
  • Collect samples, for example air, water, and soil samples
  • Record data and observations in an accurate and well-organized manner
  • Assist in the operation and maintenance of equipment, including laboratory, field, and monitoring equipment
  • Identify and locate landscape resources
  • Read maps and navigate variable terrain, including operating vehicles
  • Prepare technical reports detailing monitoring activities
  • Communicate effectively with project team members
Essential Functions
  • Knowledge of environmental conditions and effects on surrounding areas
  • Conducting soil and water sampling
  • Erosion and sediment control monitoring, implementation and maintenance
  • Ensuring that fuel and other spills are properly cleaned up
  • Preparing daily and incident reports
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Demonstrated experience conducting and applying mitigation measures
  • Both strong field and office experience
  • Proven problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent communication skills (interpersonal and written)
  • Technical competence and strong attention to detail
  • Knowledge of MS Word and Excel
Experience/ Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or technical diploma in an environmental related field
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in an environmental occupation directly related to construction monitoring, preferably in a cold climate environment
  • A valid drivers’ license is required
  • Level 1 First Aid considered an asset
  • Any professional designations considered an asset, e.g. RP Bio, CPESC, P. Geo, P. Ag
Please Note: This is a site-based position located at the Site C Dam in Fort St. John, British Columbia and full vaccination status is required per BC Hydro for site access. Preference will be given to qualified, local candidates. However, we will also consider fly in/out candidates based out of Vancouver, Nanaimo, Kelowna, Calgary, or Edmonton. Rotational employees are required to work a 14/7 rotation; flights and camp accommodations are provided while on shift.Job Types: Full-time, PermanentBenefits:
