COMPETITION NO #29 - 108There is a position available for a Local Area Network (LAN) Specialist at Technology. All applications must be completed online via the website and will be accepted on an ongoing basis until the position is filled.Reporting to the IT Manager, this position is responsible for administering and supporting School District No. 60’s LANs.Hours of Work: (8) hours per dayDuties to Commence: As soon as possible after closingWork Year Base: Twelve (12) months per yearCommencing Salary: Based on QualificationsDuties to be assigned include:Administer and provide support for the District’s Local Area Network.Maintain and support Mobile Device Management and deployment.Installation of Audio/Video equipment.Provide input into future planning and expansion of network hardware and software.Install, configure, and troubleshoot new network printers, servers and workstation installations.Stay abreast of new technology in related fields.Maintain and support mission critical servers and IT services.Install, configure and troubleshoot Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS).Provide help desk services and training.Test and evaluate new and existing hardware, software, and network infrastructure.Monitor and replenish supplies as needed.Organize work day according to the supervisor(s) direction by location and priority.Ensure tools and equipment are in good working order.Follow proper safety rules and standards by ensuring the work site is safe and secure, that vehicles and equipment are operated according to set standards and the proper safe handling of hazardous materials (W.H.M.I.S.)Informs the supervisor(s) or administrator of vandalized equipment.Performs other job-related duties as directed by the IT Manager.Qualifications and Attributes:Grade 12 or equivalencyA two-year computer related diploma from a recognized technical school or equivalency.An industry standard recognized IT Support designation.(Note: Designation Training 2 Years)6 Months Formal Education/18 Months on the job experience.Minimum 2 years experience in LAN repair and troubleshooting.Knowledge of use and installation of Audio/Video equipmentValid Class 5 drivers license with acceptable driver’s abstractAbility to work independently and set prioritiesExperience with Mobile Device Management and deploymentKnowledge of Audio/Video Equipment use and InstallationW.H.M.I.S.
