Term of Appt: Relief, on call, as needed - to a maximum of 7 hours per day (Sept - May)Start date: To be determined.Reporting to: Director of Ancillary ServicesSalary:Classification 9, $27.35 - $28.19/hr, as per the BCGEU Support Collective Agreement. Temporary employees will receive an additional $0.58/hr. in lieu of benefits and 6% vacation pay included with each pay period.Description:We are currently seeking a relief, on call cafeteria cook to provide services to our Fort St John campus. Our Cafeteria Cook works independently, preparing and cooking a variety of meals and to assist with menu planning/catered events on campus. This position will involve short order cooking, food preparation, baking, assistance with catering and ensuring that Food Safe regulations are practiced. This position is integral to the creation of exceptional student experience at NLC and requires a keen interest in providing a variety of healthy and appealing food choices for students, staff, and the public.NOTE: That our cafeteria closes down for the summer months (June - August) as well as during the Christmas closure, from Dec 25 - Jan 1st each year.*** Relief hours would take place during the daytime (between 7:30am - 3:00pm, Monday - Friday).Qualifications: Professional Cook Training, Level 3 preferred. A validamp; current Food Safe certification is required and applicants must hold it to be considered. Experience with short order cooking (including operation of grill, broiler, deep fryer, ovens, toaster, etc.), nutritious meal and snack preparation and baking are all requirements. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are a must.
