Job Description

Term of App #39;t: April 28 - June 26, 2025 (10.75 hours per week)Start date: April 28, 2025Reporting to: Associate Dean of Academicamp; Vocational ProgramsSalary:$50.07 - $56.75 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications as per the BCGEU Faculty Collective Agreement. Temporary employees receive an additional 2% in lieu of benefits, 6% vacation pay and 4.2% statutory holiday pay included with each pay.Description:NLC #39;s University Artsamp; Sciences Department requires a sessional instructor to provide online delivery of PSYC 101: Introduction to Psychology 1. This general survey course includes topics such as a brief history of psychology, elementary experimental design, the nervous system, stress, sensation and perception, conscious and unconscious mental processes, learning and memory.The University Arts and Sciences programming at Northern Lights College offers a wide variety of courses for students interested in working toward certificate or diploma completion at Northern Lights College or receiving transfer credit at other post-secondary institutions.This course is offered by video-conference; during the delivery of the course the incumbent must be located at one of our main campuses (either Dawson Creek or Fort St John, BC).Qualifications:Required:

  • Master #39;s Degree in Psychology,
  • Excellent English writing and verbal communication skills
  • Commitment to student motivation and success; and the
  • Ability to function effectively as a team member through collaborative approaches to course pedagogy.
Preferred:
  • PhD in Psychology, or a closely related field
  • One North American post-secondary degree, preferably the terminal degree.
  • The Provincial Instructor Diploma Program or an equivalent credential in adult education.
  • Demonstrable success as an instructor in a post-secondary environment.
