Job Description

Job BriefFredericton Bouldering Co-op (FBC) is a grassroots organization in the heart of Fredericton created to foster the local climbing community. We are looking for an enthusiastic facilitator(s) to provide casual coverage for our afterschool camp. Successful candidates will be responsible for providing a safe and fun environment for kids ages 5-12, while helping develop climbing skills, engaging in interactive games, leading outdoor activities, and more, in a positive “challenge-by-choice” environment.Requirements

  • Indoor or outdoor bouldering/climbing experience is considered an asset.
  • Must be physically capable of participating in activities, demonstrating techniques, and spotting participants.
  • Up-to-date criminal record/vulnerable sector check.
  • Valid First aid/CPR certificate (recertification training will be provided/subsidized if necessary).
  • ECE Training not required but considered an asset.
Responsibilities
  • Answers directly to the Program Director, as well as the Executive Director.
  • Help organize and plan afterschool activities as well as full-day programs for kids ages 5-12.
  • Pick up children at nearby schools and bus stops, following a strict timeline.
  • Implement daily plan/schedule alongside co-facilitator(s), Program Director, and volunteers.
  • Teach bouldering skills, follow safety protocols, promote teamwork, and help children develop self-confidence.
  • Supervise children on out-trips (walking).
  • Be prepared with impromptu games/activities for downtime.
  • Be enthusiastic about being active and having fun no matter the season/weather.
  • Aid with additional facility events and tasks as necessary.
  • Be able to problem-solve in unanticipated situations.
  • Competently complete necessary paperwork including incident reports, attendance, timesheets, etc. in a timely manner.
  • Work effectively amongst a diverse group of staff, children, and gym patrons.
  • Provide excellent customer service and build relationships with camper parents and families.
  • Weekday afternoons, occasional full-day shifts available also.
