Job Description

Reporting to the Director of Wellness & Membership, the Aquatics Manager provides supervision, coaching and mentoring to staff and volunteers within the various Aquatics programs, ensuring program delivery excellence and safety. The Aquatics Manager will be responsible for the overall supervision of the pool area and members aquatic experience at the YMCA of Fredericton.NOTE: Specialized aquatics certifications are considered assets; mandatory aquatics certification training and completion will be required within three months of initial employment.Duties

  • Oversees the day-to-day management of the Aquatics Department, including all administrative duties, communication, registrations, withdrawals, scheduling, etc.
  • Ensures delivery of quality, inclusive aquatics programming.
  • Monitors the safety of aquatic programs and lessons.
  • Deals effectively and professionally with YMCA members concerns.
  • Establishes positive, collaborative staff and customer relationships.
  • Hires, coaches and mentors lifeguards and instructors according to YMCA policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for direct program delivery as assigned, which can include lifeguarding or instructing.
  • Conducts ongoing evaluations of lifeguards and swim instructors according to YMCA Behaviour Grid.
  • Responsible for the development, implementation and management of annual Aquatics department budget.
  • Provide strategic leadership as a member of the YMCA management team, fulfilling various responsibilities to support Aquatics operations as required.
Skills & Qualifications
  • Post-secondary degree in Kinesiology, Recreation, Physical Education, Education or related field.
  • Minimum 2+ years administrative, planning, programming and scheduling experience.
  • Training and / or coaching experience is required.
  • Proven customer service experience.
  • Displays strong leadership skills, including excellent organization and planning skills.
  • Human resource experience, including supervision of staff and volunteers.
  • Superior time management, organizational skills and attention-to detail.
  • Above average computer skills (e.g. Excel, Word, Customer Service Databases, etc.).
  • Sporting and/or coaching background preferred.
  • Self-motivated, self-directed team player.
  • NLS Certification, Standard First Aid & CPR-C Certification an asset.
  • YMCA Swim Instructor Certification an asset.
  • YMCA Aquatics Trainer Certification an asset.
  • Well-developed interpersonal and relationship building skills.
  • Proven verbal and written communication skills.
  • Employment is contingent on having a clean Criminal Record Check.
  • Able to work non-traditional business hours, including evenings and weekends.
Job Types: Full-time, PermanentSalary: $38,000.00-$42,000.00 per yearBenefits:
