Job Description

This role can be completed remotely, but travel may be required.As part of growing team at Dillon, this position offers a wide variety of challenging and interesting project opportunities. You will have the opportunity to work with a team of leading professionals in a collaborative and supportive environment.Responsibilities:Engineering Lead/ Project Manager (85%)

  • Project manage technical projects related to; water and wastewater treatment facilities, road upgrades and transportation assets, subdivision developments, infrastructure condition assessment;
  • Lead a multidisciplinary team of designers, engineering technologist, and environmental staff through project deliverables;
  • Project manage various projects of technical and administrative nature to be completed in collaboration with indigenous communities throughout the Atlantic Provinces;
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members including engineers, planners, scientists, and technical and administrative support staff;
  • Work with Indigenous Communities and/ or project managers to identify their needs and pursue opportunities on their behalf, including navigating and completing funding application or other reporting requirements;
Business Development and External Profile (12%)
  • Contribute to business development activities including client needs research, preparation of project proposals and presentations;
  • Business travel to other Dillon offices and project sites as needed;
  • Track and monitor potential funding opportunities and communicate with funding agents as necessary;
Learning and Development (3%):
  • Commit to self-development and ongoing learning and professional development
  • Input to the career development of junior staff, including technical direction, training recommendations, coaching and mentoring
  • Contribute to Dillon’s corporate profile through active participation in professional associations and committees
Qualifications:
  • A degree in engineering;
  • Registration as an Professional Engineer or Engineer-in-Training with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientist of New Brunswick, or be eligible within six months;
  • Three to five years’ work experience in engineering;
Experience:The candidate ideally possesses broad and strategic thinking skills, including experience in managing Indigenous infrastructure projects, relationship building, stakeholder management, and government relations. The ideal candidate possesses:
  • Knowledge of the Indigenous funding landscape, Indigenous Community infrastructure, and local Atlantic Indigenous Communities;
  • Experience working with and engaging with Indigenous Communities;
  • Experience working with federally-funded projects, including Indigenous Services Canada, Infrastructure Canada, and Department of Fisheries and Oceans;
  • Familiarity with project coordination and project management for engineering projects considered an asset;
  • Knowledge of relevant provincial engineering standards and regulatory requirements;
  • Understanding of engineering design, tendering, and contract administration;
  • Strong technical report writing skills;
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) software;
  • Strong verbal and written communication, organization and interpersonal skills;
  • Excellent time management skills;
  • Excellent attention to detail and a high regard for accuracy and quality;
  • Strong problem solving skills;
  • High energy level and resilience in the face of adversity and change;
  • Experience in stakeholder engagement would be an asset;
