Job Description

FUNDAMENTAL OBJECTIVEPerform assigned tasks involving physical labor at sites to contribute to site projects being completed in a quality fashion, safely, proficiently and on time. .GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY The incumbent reports to the site supervisor or lead hand and is also accountable to the project manager as required.NATURE AND SCOPEThe conrete finisher takes direction from the Lead Hand or Site Supervisor. The incumbent relies on his/her supervisor’s direction to plan and accomplish goals. As part of a work crew, the Conrete finisher will interact with fellow labourers, tradesmen, operators, sub-contractors and safety personnel. Work outside of office hours and travel may be required depending on job scope and location.SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES· Clean or prepare construction sites to eliminate possible hazards and ensure optimization of construction work procedures· Must be able to do the following concrete related work with minimal direction:o Read drawings, plans, instructions, or specifications to determine work activitieso Interpret, ensure and check formwork, granular bases and reinforcement materials required for a jobo Waterproof, damp proof and/or restore surfaceso Repair, resurface and replace existing concreteo Install new concreteo Operate various tools and equipment (ex: tools saws, vibrators, compactors, grinders, pressure cleaners, jackhammers and mixers)o Form, pour and level concrete surfaces according to specificationso Build and position formso Install steel, mesh, anchor bolts and other fixtureso Finish concrete surfaces using appropriate material application and toolso Use manual effort to ditch and level eartho Mix concreteo Assist in prep for mechanical installations· Assist tradespersons such as welders, pipefitters etc. in construction activities as needed· Complete skilled labourer tasks during downtime as skill set allows· Place traffic signs to warn traffic of construction in process· Clean and maintain construction equipment appropriately· Align structural components according to drawings and specifications· Ensure that all work is being done safely and in compliance with company protocol· Assist in training new employees completing similar tasks· Clean up chemical spills and other contaminants and remove other hazardous materials· Signal equipment operators to facilitate alignment, movement, of machinery, equipment etc.· Control traffic passing near work areas by directing with signs, barricades, and traffic cones.· Attend site meetings /toolbox huddlesOther

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE· Places safety as top priority for themselves and coworkers· Demonstrated ability to work under minimal supervision· Manual Dexterity: Repeated and coordinated use of your arms, hands, wrists, and fingers to use handheld tools· Physical Strength and stamina: Ability to lift 50 lbs. Ability to hold, push, pull, lift and carry heavy items· Ability to use proper lifting techniques to lift items weighing in excess of 50 lbs.· Ability to work with others in a team· Ability to operate required equipment and tools in a safe and responsible manner· Oral and written comprehension - Demonstrated ability to follow instructions· Flexibility and adaptabilityQUALIFICATIONS· Must be willing to learn and be open to completing required safety training, or industry standard training to advance knowledge and be successful· Must successfully complete drug and alcohol testing· Experience in construction, industrial and/or petroleum industry is required· Must have valid driver’s license and reliable transportation· Certificates for equipment operation considered an asset· Travel is required. Candidates must be free to travel within province.· Reference check requiredAll employees must be willing to practice safe work practices and procedures for COVID-19.
