As such, were proud to support a hybrid work approach, which includes flexible hours and work from home options.YOUR FOCUS:Reporting to the Data Services Manager, the Data Navigator will develop a comprehensive knowledge of data holdings at NB-IRDT and apply subject knowledge to conduct application reviews, consult with clients and stakeholders on data availability and suitability, advise on research methodology, and assist with data services team activities to ensure the accuracy and usability of NB-IRDTs data holdings.

  • Apply subject and data knowledge to advise on NB-IRDT data availability and suitability for pan-Canadian HDRN multijurisdictional and/or provincial data access requests.
  • Assist researchers and research teams with data exploration and preliminary consultation for Data Access Requests.
  • Assess the feasibility and appropriateness of data requests.
  • Identify and advise on data limitations and collaborate on alternatives to overcoming those limitations.
  • Create detailed Data Assembly Plans for research project folder creation, including necessity of derived variables.
  • Data Access Support Hub (DASH) Working Group participation and deliverables, including the strategic development of data sharing to meet multijurisdictional research needs.
  • Participate and provide deliverables as a member of the Algorithms and Harmonized Data (AHD) Working Group.
  • Establish and enhance relationships with external partners, other data business owners/custodians, and researchers. Liaise with data holders to make assessments on applicability of data to address research questions. Address data documentation needs by interpreting data business information.
  • Create and maintain meta data, tracking, and data documentation for shared data.
  • Apply NB-IRDT data management framework for the curation of large provincial administrative databases. Complete data custodian compliance responsibilities, including data validation to ensure its accuracy. Develop metrics based on national standards to measure data quality.
  • Work with the NB-IRDT Privacy Officer to assist data business owners/custodians and researchers to address privacy and confidentiality requirements for data transfer, access, use, retention, and disposition of personal information and personal health information held in the custody of NB-IRDT.
  • Perform other duties, as directed.
WHAT YOU BRING:
  • Masters degree in Epidemiology, Economics, Science, Biostatistics, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years experience in manipulating large complex data sets and applying statistical and epidemiological methods and principles to health services research.
  • Experience with administrative databases such as hospital discharge, outpatient, and survey data.
  • Excellent knowledge of statistical software (SAS, STATA, R, MATLAB) and Microsoft Office.
  • Substantial statistical programming experience, including managing, merging, and analyzing data sets.
  • Strong knowledge of descriptive statistics, statistical inference, survival analysis and advanced statistical modeling.
