POSITION SUMMARYReporting to the Vice President Academic and Principal, Yorkville University New Brunswick, the Dean is responsible for the quality and effectiveness of the academic programs within Yorkville University’s New Brunswick School of Business, as well as decisions related to faculty recruitment and retention, AACSB accreditation, and resource utilization. As a member of the Vice President Academic and Principal’s leadership team, the Dean will collaborate with campus and university leadership to support the University’s strategic goals and priorities, and advance the values, culture, and reputation of Yorkville University and the School of Business.The Dean is the leader and spokesperson for business education at Yorkville University and the New Brunswick campus, and will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive, ambitious, and dynamic vision for the School’s future; oversee the School’s efforts to continuously improve its academic plan; guide the School through the process of refining its identity; lead in the maintenance and implementation of high quality academic programs resulting in enrollment growth; maintain and develop productive external partnerships; collaborate with other deans to advance joint initiatives; and provide leadership in improving student retention and success through innovations that enhance advising and teaching.Committed to the principles of Indigeneity and reconciliation, the Dean will have the opportunity to lead the school in advancing academic excellence through diversity, equity, inclusion, sustainability, innovation, and entrepreneurship; the Dean is expected to embrace this opportunity.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESMajor duties of the Dean include:1. Chairing the New Brunswick program curriculum committees, hiring committee, faculty council, and sitting on the National Curriculum Committee.2. Maintaining a program advisory committee consistent with Yorkville University policies.3. Encouraging and promoting excellence in teaching and professional practice to maintain currency.4. Assuring adherence to all academic policies.5. Participating in governance and management as a member of the New Brunswick Academic Council and Academic Committee, as well as other School and University committees as needed and as time permits.6. Overseeing the AACSB accreditation process for all New Brunswick business programs and maintaining alignment with AACSB accreditation requirements.7. Developing and implementing the school’s strategic plan, in alignment with the New Brunswick and Yorkville University strategic plans.8. Promoting student success, retention, persistence, and timely degree completion and ensuring that graduates are competitive within the workforce.9. Collaborating with faculty and administrators from schools and programs across the university to ensure efficient use of resources and identify joint programming opportunities.10. Identifying and implementing enrollment growth strategies for programs within the school.11. Participating in the development of new academic programs12. Pursuing market-informed programmatic and curricular innovation to meet student needs and enrollment goals consistent with the vision of Yorkville University.13. Demonstrating a sensitivity to the needs of all students and faculty.14. Demonstrating a commitment to faculty and staff professional growth and development.15. Engaging in collaborative decision making using effective communication skills with the ability to listen, consult, and reach consensus.16. Regularly engaging external business leaders and organizations to promote academic programs and create learning opportunities for students, including job placements.17. Empowering faculty and staff to achieve performance goals and objectives, modeling creativity, innovation, risk-taking, and professional excellence.18. Establishing the School as a leader of high impact practices in education.19. Effectively managing staffing needs, along with reviewing and assessing the performance of faculty.Performing additional responsibilities as assigned by the Vice President Academic andPOSITION PROFILE· An earned doctorate from an AACSB accredited institution and a record of teaching, scholarly achievement, and service.· A minimum of 10 years administrative and leadership experience, with increasing responsibilities, in a post-secondary education environment.· Experience teaching at the post-secondary level.· Demonstrated record as a distinguished or emerging leader in professional business fields and within academe.· Experience with AACSB accreditation, a comprehensive understanding of AACSB accreditation standards, requirements, and strategies to maintain accreditation, and a general understanding of institutional accreditation by a regional accrediting body.· A record of successful organization and execution of a program-level or (preferred) an institutional-level regional accreditation process, or a major organizational role under the leadership of another.· A history of providing students with a high-quality educational experience and a clear record of accomplishment in student retention and success.· Experience as a seasoned, decisive leader and diplomat with strong organizational and consensus-building skills, integrity, and the ability to inspire and lead faculty with diverse interests.· A record of success in recruiting and retaining talented and diverse faculty; a champion of faculty eager to excel in teaching and creative activities.· A data-driven leadership style that employs the appropriate facts to inform decision making.· A leader with a vision for both undergraduate and graduate business education.· Requisite contacts and network to develop a strong faculty team.· Exceptional communication skills, both written and oral.· Excellent interpersonal skills across institutional units with faculty, staff, and senior leaders.· The ability to challenge, motivate and manage faculty and staff to high levels of performance and collaboration.· A record of contributing to programmatic and enrollment growth.ABOUT YORKVILLE UNIVERSITYFounded in 2004, Yorkville University is a Canadian university with a national presence.
