The MDR Manager will act as the liaison with other departments to meet the needs of our customers as well as dealing with our external vendors. The MDR Manager will collaborate on project responsibilities and other operational activities with the MDR manager of the Regional Director of MDR and Patient Flow Improvement and will be an active member of the regional MDR team.The MDR Manager is responsible for ensuring all CSA standards are met as well as responsible for implementing corrective actions following Infection and Prevention Control (IPC) audits, holding the team accountable to follow corrective actions and CSA standards.This position is a member of the Horizon Medical Device Reprocessing team and will be located at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital.QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor's degree in a health-related and/or business discipline with relevant experience. Equivalent practical experience may also be considered3-5 years progressive management experience, with demonstrated abilities in program management implementation, human and fiscal resource management, and customer relationsSuccessful completion of a recognized MDR course or agreeing of taking a course within 6 months of hiring.Excellent project/process management skills and overall time management skillsIdeally MDR or Operating Room experienceAbility to deal with others effectivelyProcess improvement experience considered as a strong assetExperience managing and conducting attendance and performance assessments of a teamAbility to attend work on a regular basis.Ability to perform the duties of the position.Good work record.Written and spoken competence in English is required.(Equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered)Other Essential Requirements/QualificationsDemonstrated adherence to all privacy legislation and corporation policies to ensure all confidential patient, business, financial and employee information is accessed on a need to know basis only (for required job duties) and is disclosed only to those authorized to receive it.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:Managing daily work activities of the MDR department through developing work plan/schedule, providing leadership and coaching, supporting training and developing opportunities, establishing priorities assigning work accordingly.Evaluating employee performance, oversee attendance management program, determining training and orientation requirements, monitoring compliance with quality assurance testing, and providing input to the manager as required.Conducting policy and SOP audits and providing feedback/coaching MDR employees for improvement.Holding MDR staff accountable for results involved with retraining and/or discipline of employees as required. Ensuring staff achieved CSA certification/re-certification as per established work plan.Reviews existing internal and external procedures, updating them as needed. Working collaboratively with the other MDR managers to update regional MDR departmental standards and procedures. Maintains a safe work environment ensuring safety practices and procedures are adhered to.Monitoring and maintaining inventory of equipment and supplies by performing duties such as making recommendations for changes to stock levels, reorder points, and adjusting as necessary. Maintaining a library of equipment and supplies catalogues and place orders in conjunction with the buyer/purchaser.Leading process improvement projects in order to improve productivity in MDR dept. across area 3.Overseeing the setup and maintenance of the OR case cart system by verifying loaner medical device set/equipment are complete, received, processed, and returned.Special Requirements:Successful candidate must actively pursue continuing education in this field on an annual basis.Must be able to travel within area 3 hospitals and occasionally through Horizon.COMPETENCIES:Extensive leadership (integrity, dependability, honesty, initiative, tact and high ethical standards) and management skills (analytical skills, problem solving abilities, judgment and multitask), with strong interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills.Ability to lead/motivate a team.Ability to work independently, build interdisciplinary teams and develop networks.Applications for this position must be submitted on-line by June 30, 2021.NOTE: There will be no further postings for this position should there be no fully qualified applicants.
