Job Description

Yorkville University is seeking a self-motivated Human Resources Generalist for its Fredericton campus. This position is to cover a maternity leave of absence for up to 18 months.Reporting to the Vice President, Human Resources the role will be responsible for providing HR generalist support and guidance for all HR activities for Yorkville University campus in New Brunswick.Duties and ResponsibilitiesRecruitment and Selection

  • Review and maintain job descriptions, ensuring all positions have an up to date job description
  • Ensure recruitment approval and associated forms/documents are completed and distributed accordingly
  • Undertake recruitment administration as needed
  • Develop interview questions and selection tools. Attend selection interviews.
  • Prepare offer letter and employment contract for successful candidate
Faculty Management
  • Coordinate all faculty contract files and preparation of payment schedules
Performance Management
  • Provide guidance and coaching on dealing with employee performance matters
  • Administer termination procedures and protocols
Health and Safety
  • Participate on the Joint Health and Safety Committee and provide administrative support as required
  • Coordinate workplace inspections and ensure appropriate follow up
  • Administer health and safety training
  • Provide health and safety statistics as required
Orientation and Training
  • Conduct initial new employee orientation for purposes of completion of appropriate payroll and benefits documentation
  • Administer and coordinate new employee orientation program
  • Arrange and schedule employee training programs and seminars/conferences
Position Profile
  • 3-5 years experience in a Human Resources Generalist or similar role
  • Experience and knowledge of employment and health and safety legislation
  • Degree in Human Resources or related field would be an advantage
  • CHRP is preferred
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong customer service orientation
  • Highly organized
  • Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures
  • Expert knowledge of MS office
  • Meticulous attention to detail, particularly in maintaining files and records
