Job Description

Position Overview: *We are looking for a Pricing Manager to join our team at our office in Fredericton or Woodstock NB or potentially from a remote home-based location. The successful candidate will be responsible for consumer pricing and rate-centric program development for the residential Internet business, which includes fibre (FTTH), fixed wireless 4G and 5G services, satellite Internet and value-added services. The manager’s role will be to create pricing that is preferred by customers over competitive offerings while ensuring profitable growth for the company. You will conduct thorough analysis, research and testing to understand and optimize “rack rates” and discounting policies; ensure the leadership and operational teams are aware of all pricing and can execute flawlessly; and report on revenue performance indicators. You will also work daily with the sales marketing team including active coaching of a Revenue Analyst, as well as frequent cross-functional work with customer operations, finance, and IT teams.Key responsibilities include:

  • Develop pricing to meet needs of target customer segments ensuring preference of Xplornet value over that of competitive offerings
  • Enhance understanding of market and category both in Canada and from best and emerging practice across all regions
  • Conduct competitive analysis of pricing at national and regional level, from direct through to emerging alternatives
  • Initiate pricing development and work with marketing operations team to create and launch new pricing and offers
  • Ensure sales and marketing team understands and can optimally support existing and new pricing
  • As needed support corporate development through Request For Proposal (RFP), merger and acquisition, subsidy competition and compliance and other new business efforts
  • Identify pricing and rate risks and opportunities and work with sales and marketing teams on actions
  • Monitor the execution of price strategy and report on pricing performance versus expectations
  • Act as key leader throughout the annual budgeting process
  • Manage centralized database of all pricing and offers for various channels, regions and market segments
  • Ensure pricing strategy is understood and is being carried out across the organization
  • Support profitable growth by conducting profitability analysis and continuously acting on opportunities to improve results
  • Work with Revenue ANALYST on reporting, forecasting and insight generation
  • Create, direct and drive programs that result in net ARPU growth
  • Accountable for discounting and re-rate policies, monitoring and actions to correct
  • Ongoing collaboration with cross-functional teams to develop and enhance rate-centric programs
The ideal candidate will possess:
  • 4-year degree in BBA or BComm
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate a compelling vision supported by strong leadership and motivational skills
  • Strong presentation skills and a demonstrated ability in effective influencing and communications
  • Proven leadership skills to effectively motivate cross-functional departments to achieve high levels of success and productiveness
  • Ability to balance the strategic requirements of the role with readiness to action day-to-day transactional requirements as needed
  • Understanding of Canadian Internet and the telecommunications market
  • Demonstrated know-how in business and product profitability modeling
  • Highly proficient with Excel (model creation, forecasting, database/database integration. scripting, pivots/filter/advanced lookups)
  • Working knowledge of other Microsoft office software (PowerPoint, Word)
  • 4 years of experience in pricing function ideally within telecom, financial annuity services, or loyalty segment
  • Must exhibit a high degree of professionalism
  • Keen eye to detail and accuracy
  • Skillful at promoting ideas and interacting positively and with confidence
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize a variety of tasks and meet deadlines
