Job Description

The University of New Brunswick Fredericton welcomes applications for the position of Program Manager with the J. Herbert Smith Centre. This is a 1-year term, full-time (36.25 hours per week) position with a salary range of $49,107 - $63,840 per annum.The Dr. J. Herbert Smith Centre for Technology Management and Entrepreneurship (TME) is the technology innovation and entrepreneurship hub located within the Faculty of Engineering.Position summary:

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the J Herbert Smith Centres academic and external programs.
  • Maintain good communication with both students and instructors to ensure smooth delivery.
  • Communicate with internal and external stakeholders. Attend recruitment events (traveling as required).
  • Supervise TAs, assign tasks and duties.
  • Evaluate CAE positions, post available contracts, and interview candidates.
  • Manage JHSCs annual Future of Innovation Conference. Liaise with external parties related to sponsorship, guest speakers and judges. Organize and create cohesive themes that are timely and spark public, stakeholder, and student interest. Organize and create talking point(s) for panel discussions.
  • Manage conference timeline to ensure smooth conference delivery.
  • Manage the Scale up Atlantic Canada Program. Keep accurate cost records and report expense to external funders. Report on program success and build data bank of success stories to report to funding agencies. Recruit top Atlantic companies from all 4 Atlantic provinces. Facilitate room bookings and catering.
  • Collect participant feedback to share with faculty to improve delivery of the program(s).
  • Work with companies and students on internship collaboration.
  • Report to Development and Donor Relations on JHSCs yearly activities.
  • Keep records of award winners and media reports to send to donors as a source of success from the Centre.
  • Keep general knowledge of student projects to nominate current/graduated students for prizes and awards.
  • Connect with instructors to provide support and ensure equipment and technology needs are met.
  • Ensure all courses offered are up to date with course outlines. Obtain syllabus ahead of all semesters start.
  • Evaluate courses for credit transfers and evaluate new UNB courses for addition to elective list.
  • Meet with students and advise on programs.
  • Recruit students actively, review student applications, and conduct student interviews.
  • Collaborate with other departments on student elective needs. Respond to student inquires.
  • Manage delivery of annual CRAM event.
Requirements/Skills:
  • University degree in a relevant area; Masters preferred.
  • 3-5 years in program management experience. 5+ years in a marketing and entrepreneurship experience.
  • Knowledge and experience with computer programs and platforms such as: Microsoft Office Suites, Adobe, informer reporting, CRM Recruit, colleague and zoom.
