You will mine those connections for story ideas to inform and contribute to our journalism. You have a passion for interacting with the public and tapping into underserved communities. You’re skilled in audience listening, and are committed to building bridges and relationships. You are a strong believer in the role of the CBC as Canada’s public broadcaster, possess a key understanding of our mandate to serve Canadians and bring your own unique take on how to achieve it. You think audience-first.You have a deep understanding of video production with an emphasis on digital and social storytelling. You think outside the box, have a clear vision and are able to work collaboratively with other teams in the newsroom to bring that vision to life, creating content that engages the audience and builds loyalty. You are up-to-date on cultural moments and trends. You are a self-starter and team player who thrives under deadline pressure and excels at pitching original content and innovative story treatments. You are a critical thinker who is solutions-oriented with experience working in a fast-paced environment.You have relevant experience with a background in news on various social media platforms. Your work will be governed by and adhere to CBC journalistic and programming policies, standards and practices. Advice and guidance are available but initiative and independent judgment are expected. You will own and execute the social media calendar including content development, best practices, video production, monitoring analytics and reporting.This is a full-time position based in Fredericton, New Brunswick.We are looking for a candidate with the following:Proven track record of community engagement and relationship-building.Knowledge of news presentation on social platforms, including emerging social platforms and trends.Extensive video production and editing experience, with an emphasis on digital video.Deep understanding of social analytics and ability to direct social media efforts in response to metrics.Can effectively navigate challenging conversations and trolling.Is comfortable spearheading change and being a newsroom leader when it comes to digital video.Can identify which stories resonated with social audiences and the best treatment for each platform.Can identify assignment opportunities for social posts and platforms.Expertise in how to best use video, photos, text and other tools to enhance digital treatments; an aptitude for graphic design is a bonus.Thrives in an innovative and creative environment, comfortable with change and uncertainty.Is a team player, good communicator and open to feedback.University degree or equivalent.Job requires three to four years of relevant experience that includes proven knowledge of digital news media and social media distribution.Candidates may be subject to skills and knowledge testing.If this sounds interesting, please click on Apply online.
