Job Description

Background The Provincial Health Application Services (PHAS) branch has overall responsibility to ensure that applications used for the delivery of programs in the health sector are operational, maintained, enhanced, optimized, and supported. Areas of responsibility include business applications that support the Regional Health Authorities and the department of Health. It has responsibility for the provision of 24/7 support for a wide range of complex and highly diversified applications. It also ensures that these solutions are optimized, and enhanced, and new solutions are delivered to meet the ever-changing business requirements of the stakeholders and healthcare environment.Services Sought Provincial Health Application Services (PHAS) is seeking assistance of a Technical Analyst to augment the current RRAD/Cancer App & DSP (Data Sharing Platform) technical support teams to help maintain, support and advance various Health Applications supported by Provincial Health Application Services at Service New Brunswick.The chosen individual’s work will be comprised of a mixture of steady state and project-based efforts.Some after hours and weekend work may be required for the successful candidate, however, any overtime or work during non-business hours must be approved in advance.Required Skills

  • A University degree in Computer Science or a related discipline; an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Minimum ten (10) years as a Technical Analyst or Programmer Analyst.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral) in English.
  • Demonstrated experience with SSRS reports in a development environment.
  • The candidate must be available to start work immediately on site in Fredericton NB on the date specified in Section 8 of the SOW.
Desired Skills
  • Demonstrated experience with Provincial Regional Health Authority and/or Department of Health applications in Canada.
  • Demonstrated experience with designing, developing, implementing, migrating, and maintaining SSRS reports.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and managing the implementation of technical solutions in an operational environment.
  • Demonstrated experience with SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) including designing, implementing, and troubleshooting SSIS packages.
  • Demonstrated experience with creating, maintaining, and troubleshooting database tables, views, functions, stored procedures, and indexes.
  • Demonstrated experience with analyzing, troubleshooting, and converting Cognos/Impromptu reports.
  • Demonstrated experience with troubleshooting SQL-based reports.
  • Experience in security related to data confidentiality and client privacy issues in application design and development.
  • Ability to translate business requirements into report designs.
  • Demonstrated experience with relational database concepts and software development lifecycles (SDLC).
Deliverables The successful candidate must deliver the following, in order to successfully complete the engagement:
  • Participate in the analysis, development, implementation, integration and configuration of SSRS reports;
  • Lead/participate in the development of SSIS packages;
  • Ensure that report design requirements are being met for ongoing release maintenance and support;
  • Troubleshoot problems and propose solutions;
  • Work with the various stakeholders (Business Teams, Application Support Teams, DBAs, other development teams, etc.) to ensure successful implementation;
  • Work with the Enterprise Architecture group representatives to ensure that the system architecture conforms to the Enterprise Architecture Framework, including privacy, security, operational and quality assurance controls;
  • Completion of all assigned maintenance, support, and development activities (service requests, releases, incidents, problems, projects, etc.).
  • Updating of team knowledge sites and documentation as applicable.
  • Other duties as assigned, such as update team documentation as required, participate in team scrums as required, etc.
