You are comfortable shooting and editing and telling stories visually. You are keen to try new ways of creating video content for all CBC platforms. You will uphold and demonstrate the highest level of CBC’s journalistic standards and practices in your work. You also live and promote the values of an inclusive and respectful work culture.We are looking for an experienced videographer to shoot and edit video for all platforms. You will work in both news gathering and presentation, applying skills and expertise in all aspects of video production. The work is performed according to accepted CBC and industry standards under the direction of a producer but there is latitude for independent action, judgment and initiative.Key Tasks

  • Prepare, align and set up field cameras ensuring optimum visual and technical quality under prevailing conditions.
  • Light the subject or scene, compose and record program material using an ENG camera. Ensure both visual and aural material meets technical and aesthetic requirements for editing.
  • Deliver and ingest all recorded materials into our production system.
  • Edits content for television news programming
  • Perform simple maintenance of equipment in the field.
  • Maintain an interest in what is making news and about topics that reflect our communities.
  • Drive a motor vehicle when required.
  • Perform all or part of the function or duties of an equivalent or lower classification.
As assigned or required, may perform any or all of the following tasks:
  • Ask scripted questions of subjects being recorded.
  • Contribute to social media.
We are looking for a candidate with the following:
  • Technical knowledge and understanding of daily Television News production methods.
  • Ability to operate and troubleshoot Electronic News Gathering (ENG) camera and associated technology such as wireless microphones, lighting equipment, and communication tools.
  • Ability to edit video/ audio using Non-Linear editing technology such as Avid Media Composer.
  • Strong image composition skills in videography, still photography and editing.
  • Knowledge of digital visual storytelling.
  • Ability to work in a deadline-driven environment while maintaining a calm, professional attitude.
  • Must demonstrate leadership skills and the ability to pursue the acquisition of story elements with minimum supervision ensuring a high degree of accuracy, quality and creativity.
  • You exhibit an openness to diverse perspectives and ideas and a sensitivity to the province’s cultural communities.
  • You live and promote the values of a respectful work culture.
  • Ability to be flexible and willing to work extended hours for unforeseen overtime.
  • Possession of a valid drivers license as well as a driving record that meets the minimum requirements of CBC/Radio-Canadas insurance company.
  • Combination of education and experience equivalent to a post-secondary education and three (3) years of relevant experience in TV and media arts.
