It delivers educational programming that fosters extraordinary student-teacher interaction, student leadership and entrepreneurship, intercultural dialogue and engagement, and high-calibre athletics.COMPETITION NUMBERC22-23-MGMT-06DEPARTMENT Building ServicesIMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR Director of Building ServicesTYPE OF HIRINGTemporary full-time until end of June 2023 with possibility of extension.WORK LOCATION325 boul. de la Cité-des-Jeunes, Gatineau, Quebec, Canada, J8Y6T3SALARY RANGE (ANNUAL)60,864.00$ - 81,150.00$Under the supervision of the Director of Building Services, the Building Services Manager is responsible for the coordination and supervision of technical, administrative, and manual activities required for the management of all preventive maintenance, physical maintenance, and cleaning services as well as security and surveillance for all physical facilities. The Building Services Manager also assists the Director of Building Services with procurement, energy management and other project management dossiers in his/her area of expertise.The Building Services Manager will also supervise a team composed of a Certified Maintenance Worker, a Trades Helper and a Janitor working the evening shift.FUNCTIONSFor a complete list of functions, please contact Human Resources at hr@cegep-heritage.qc.ca.The areas of responsibility of the Building Services Manager include: Building maintenance and cleaning services:

  • Anticipates the overall tasks required for the specialized maintenance of equipment on a day-to-day, weekly, monthly, and annual basis, and establishes the working calendar for his/her team.
  • Coordinates, distributes, and supervises the work of employees assigned to manual activities in specialized trades and general maintenance.
  • Receives, analyzes, and distributes the work sheets requiring the intervention of Certified Maintenance Workers, Trade Helpers, and Janitor; controls the execution of tasks and verifies the quality of the work.
  • Responsible for preventive as well as curative janitorial maintenance of the building.
  • Analyses and evaluates work orders for maintenance, cleaning, repairs, and specialized services.
  • Prepares a list of annual service and preventive maintenance contracts, ensures that they are renewed on time and monitors their costs.
  • Responsible for the operation, maintenance, inspection and installation supervision of the heating, air conditioning, ventilation, and refrigeration systems and related equipment.
Other management dossiers:
  • Collaborates in the preparation and analysis of technical specifications and tender documents.
  • Prepares and submits requisitions for material.
  • Assists the Director of Building Services and the Director of Human Resources with the College emergency procedures and any policies or procedures related to his/her sector of activities.
  • Coordinates resources to safeguard the property and grounds against fire, burglary, and vandalism.
  • Assists the Director of Building Services in implementing and maintaining energy saving programs approved by the College.
  • Assists the Director of Building Services in the implementation of an asset inventory system.
Entire sector of activities:
  • Represents the Director of Building Services, when required, on certain College committees, construction job meetings and project planning meetings.
  • Liaises and maintains harmonious relations with other services and with the clientèle.
  • Assists in the preparation and implementation of the annual work plan and of the departmental budget.
  • Assists in the monitoring of the department’s capital budget (investment, renovations, furniture) within approved limits, and submits recommendations.
  • Performs all other related duties, as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
  • A bachelor’s degree or a diploma of collegial studies or an attestation of studies in Building or Facility Management or any related field which is recognized as equivalent by the competent authority.
  • Three (3) years of relevant work experience, including experience in supervision of personnel.
  • Must possess practical skills and experience related to the area of activity (purchasing/parking/space management/physical inventory management systems/energy saving management programs/preventive maintenance programs, etc.).
  • Experience with computerized purchasing/parking/space management tools/AutoCAD or similar proprietary software is essential.
  • Excellent knowledge and skills in the use of technology in a Windows environment with Microsoft Office Suite (MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.).
  • Ability to work in a self-directed team environment with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to make relatively complex financial calculations with accurate results.
  • Must possess a strong work ethic.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bilingual in English and French (functional written, fluent reading and spoken).
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills; team builder competencies; collaborative style.
  • Ability to manage conflicting priorities and to deliver multiple projects under tight timelines.
  • Excellent leadership skills.
  • Knowledge of the Cégep system would be an asset.
