Job DescriptionThe Digital Identity Laboratory of Canada (“IDLab”) is seeking a full-time Junior DevOps to join its technology team. Reporting to the Vice President, Service Enablement, this is a pivotal role responsible for building and maintaining our core IT service infrastructure combining and automating virtual machine technology and cloud-native container applications. The candidate must be able to legally work in Canada and maintain their principal residence in Canada.The DevOps we are searching for must possess a customer-centric attitude, demonstrate problem-solving abilities, take pride in their work, and work under minimal supervision with keen attention to detail and efficiency. Familiarity with enterprise technical environments is essential.To be successful in this role, the candidate should have at least 1-3 years of professional experience in DevOps or related hands-on technology roles. IDLab designs, implements, operates, and maintains various technical infrastructures within its private colocation facility as well as through public cloud service providers. The Devops must be comfortable and adaptable in working with varying cloud environments, technology stacks, and DevOps tooling.Please include links to your notable projects via publicly accessible live sites or code repositories (personal projects only), open source contributions, blogs or community involvement in your job application.The Junior DevOp’s primary responsibilities in IDLab are:
  • Client Service Delivery for IDLab lines of business
  • Client Request Management and Support
  • Lab Infrastructure Availability and Improvements
  • IT and Business Applications Availability and Improvements
  • Digital Identity Community Engagement
On a scale of importance of 1 to 4, “1” being a nice to have while “4” being absolutely critical, here are the areas of skill, knowledge and experience the candidate needs to be proficient in:4: Fluency in English and French, oral and written4: Experience in software development, infrastructure development, or development and operations4: Proficiency working with DevOps tools and methodologies4: Experience with language such as Go, Ansible, JavaScript, PHP, Python, Perl, Ruby, .NET3: Proficiency in Linux-based systems and using CLIs3: Knowledge of virtualized infrastructure such as KVM, Proxmox, VMWare, or similar technologies3: Knowledge of containerized deployments including docker and kubernetes, Openshift3: Knowledge of supportive network services including DNS, VPNs, Firewalls3: Experience in code management tools and processes, e.g. Git, GitLab pipelines3: Experience working with various stakeholders, e.g. leadership, team members, clients, and open source community members in defining and understanding technical requirements3: Demonstrated success in balancing demands of concurrent projects2: Experience with SQL and NoSQL database languages and structures, e.g. Postgresql, MySQL, Elasticsearch, MongoDB, etc.2: Experience in actively monitoring and supporting production services in a B2B environment2: Knowledge of correct implementation of security concepts (OWASP)2: Interest in Digital Identity and related technologiesIf you believe in, have seen, and embrace the profound impact that digital identity brings to the digital transformation of our society; if you want to accelerate the adoption of Digital Identity across the country and internationally; if you have a heart to develop and maintain service excellence; AND you want to join an existing team of open, honest, innovative, and committed professionals, this opportunity is for you.About the Digital Identity Laboratory of CanadaIDLab is an independent non-profit Canadian service operator dedicated to advancing digital trust by breaking down barriers to digital ID adoption.
