Job Description

General: Reporting to the Detox Supervisor, the Nursing Assistant aids clients in their recovery progress consistent with the philosophy and intent of Aurora Recovery Centre (ARC).Responsibilities:

  • Be available on an as needed basis to clients seeking assistance.
  • Seek consult regarding problems related to client’s addiction and co-occurring mental health disorders that may be unfamiliar.
  • Screen/assess for self-harm/risk factors and ensure Counsellors/nurses are made aware of risks.
  • Monitor client activity, identify needs of clients, and ensure managers and co-workers are aware of same.
  • Provide conflict resolution and problem solving for clients.
  • Provide support and advocacy for clients.
  • Determine need for additional supports and ensure this information is provided to Counsellors/ Nurses.
  • Work collaboratively with all team clients and in the best interest of the clients.
  • Attend team meetings, clinical supervision, and staff training as directed.
  • Make client’s in DMU comfortable.
  • Communicate effectively with nursing staff in DMU to ensure best possible client care.
  • Assess vital signs as needed.
  • Seek out clients to see NP/MD.
  • Keep DMU in an organized manner.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • HCA certification and/or grandfathered into program or Ward Clerk, a combination of experience and education may be considered.
  • Certification as a Ward Clerk.
  • Demonstrated ability and willingness to work as a team member.
  • Be committed to supporting the philosophy and intent of ARC
Physical Demands and Working Conditions: Must be in good physical and mental health. May encounter aggressive and/or agitated clients/visitors/staff. May be exposed to infectious diseases, blood and body fluids, toxic materials, noise, allergens, and physical and emotional stress. May be occasionally required to work extended hours. May be required to work evening and weekend shifts.Job Type: Full-timeBenefits:
