We are professional, agile and our goal is to Presteve Foods Limited is a fish processing and distribution plant that was established in 1980. We sell the highest quality fish found in the Great Lakes. Presteve Foods Limited (“Presteve”) is the leading vertically integrated harvester, processor and distributor of freshwater fish and other seafood in the Great Lakes, based on the shores of Lake Erie, ON. The company specializes in processing and marketing freshwater fish harvested from the Great Lakes and other Canadian, U.S. and European freshwater fisheries. Presteve supplies fresh and frozen fish – whether whole, dressed, filleted or breaded / battered – to wholesalers, distributors and retail customers in the USA and Canada, under both its own brand and private label. Presteve’s purpose as a company is “to preserve and elevate the centuries’ old tradition of harvesting and preparing unique, wild, freshwater fish, and other specialty seafood, and to share this natural resource with the world.” The company’s most ambitious goal is “to become the leader in North America of unique, wild, freshwater fish, and other specialty seafood, and make their sources famous.” Presteve continues to grow through the expansion of existing operations and an acquisition strategy supported by its majority shareholder, Founders Food Group, a Vancouver-based family investment firm. Due to our continuous growth, we are looking for reliable full time staff members to join our growing plant facility in Gimli, Manitoba.Position SummaryReporting to the Production Manager, the Production Supervisor will supervise and coordinate work activities with the production team to meet daily Sales requirements and Operations Planning. Recommend measures to improve productivity and product quality. Identify, evaluate, control and prevent hazards at all stages of the food production process.Responsibilities:● Carry out production tasks in accordance with company standards.● Train workers on more effective production techniques to increase their knowledge and make them more effective to increase productivity.● Engage workers in training exercises to transfer knowledge and expertise to them.● Develop a strong understanding of internal ERP (Nav) in order to be able to interpret sales orders, intercompany transfers, consumptions, outputs etc.● Understanding of RF scan guns and ability to troubleshoot them as needed.● Manage resources effectively to prevent waste as this could lead to loss or shortage in the overall production.● Ensure that workers abide by production specifications, using the right instruments and procedures to boost production quality and service delivery.● Review performance of workers, outlining their strengths and weaknesses, and device strategies to harness their strengths, to make up for their shortcomings.● Coach, train, manage, discipline, and evaluate staff performance, supported by Human Resources.● Supervise orders and delivery of production materials and inspect them for good quality.● Coordinate production between locations as needed (Presteve Wheatley).● Maintain sales orders, intercompany transfers and attach trade items to orders.● Remain in compliance with all SOP’s and GMP’s.● Follow and ensure compliance with all Food Safety Practices and SOP’s.● Coordinate work activities with various production areas.● Inspect and review for quality control and food safety standards.● Generate production reports for plant output.● Develop and implement strategies to promote hard work amongst workers by rewarding outstanding performance with incentives, while encouraging others to work harder by putting them through additional training as required.● Train staff on company procedures and practices and monitor work.● Recommend measures to improve productivity and product quality.● Strong understanding and ability to operate IQF freezers.● Start up and shut down procedures.● Ability to provide coverage for supervisory roles at all facilities.● Communicate effectively with all departments to ensure awareness of all issues (make sure all parts are moving effectively).● Encourage team spirit among workers by giving them collective tasks and creating channels for them to assist each other in achieving production goals.● Create a safe and conducive environment to workers, by taking precautionary measures against accidents, and providing safety garments to serve as shield to them in the case of production hazards and accidents.● Additional duties as required (inspecting, packing, scaling, grading, processing fish, etc).Qualifications and Experience:● 3-5 years in previous leadership role.● High School Education, GED, or equivalent.● Must have a valid G class (at minimum) license.● Highly proficient in Microsoft Office.● Leadership and team management skills.● Ability to problem solve in a challenging, fast-paced environment.● Working knowledge of technical software that is specific to the industry.● Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.● Strong communication skills, both written and oral.● Ability to problem solve and make decisions.● Previous knowledge and expertise within the industry considered an asset.Physical Abilities:● Must be able to stand and sit for long periods of time.● Must be able to bend, lift and twist.● Must be physically fit in order to operate a Forklift.● Must be able to lifts up to 50lbs.Accessibility for Manitobans Act:Presteve Foods is an inclusive employer that is committed to promoting dignity, equal opportunity, and integration within the workplace.
