We sell the highest quality fish found in the Great Lakes. Presteve Foods Limited (“Presteve”) is the leading vertically integrated harvester, processor and distributor of freshwater fish and other seafood in the Great Lakes, based on the shores of Lake Erie, ON. The company specializes in processing and marketing freshwater fish harvested from the Great Lakes and other Canadian, U.S. and European freshwater fisheries. Presteve supplies fresh and frozen fish – whether whole, dressed, filleted or breaded / battered – to wholesalers, distributors and retail customers in the USA and Canada, under both its own brand and private label. Presteve’s purpose as a company is “to preserve and elevate the centuries’ old tradition of harvesting and preparing unique, wild, freshwater fish, and other specialty seafood, and to share this natural resource with the world.” The company’s most ambitious goal is “to become the leader in North America of unique, wild, freshwater fish, and other specialty seafood, and make their sources famous.” Presteve continues to grow through the expansion of existing operations and an acquisition strategy supported by its majority shareholder, Founders Food Group, a Vancouver-based family investment firm. Due to our continuous growth, we are looking for reliable full time staff members to join our growing plant facility in Gimli, Manitoba.Position SummaryReporting to the General Manager of Operations, the Plant Manager will be responsible for all production aspects of the facility including coordination and setup of seasonal schemes, product quality, hiring, training & management of production employees, facility, and personnel safety.Responsibilities:· Lead the production team contribution to daily Sales requirements and Operations Planning meeting.· Oversee production and coordinate with Shipping and Receiving to ensure fish orders fulfillment.· Coordinate and work to schedule production through the day.· Be a supportive contributor to the senior supervisors in receiving/grading and warehouse/ logistics.· Generate production reports for plant output.· Develop a strong understanding of internal ERP (Nav) in order to be able to interpret sales orders, intercompany transfers, consumptions, outputs etc.· Maintain focus on productivity, cost control, efficiencies and production equipment, improvements with primary responsibility for the finishing and IQF rooms.· Identify product/ process improvements or new products by remaining current on industry trends, safety standards and regulations, market activities, and competitors.· Establishing and maintaining appropriate KPI’s, headcount and overtime levels.· Enforce and monitor compliance with company and industry policies, procedures and regulations and food safety, health and safety and security programs and activities.· Lead the Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC).· Problem solve, negotiate, and address staff challenges.· Coach, train, manage and evaluate staff performance.· Lead in disciplinary actions when needed, supported by Human Resources.· Communicates with supervisors and management any problems and concerns.· Manage and direct product flows throughout facility.· Regular communication, manage and maintain strong relationships with fish suppliersRegulations Management / Enforcement· Ensure compliance with CFIA, Manitoba Workplace Safety and Health Act, ESA, Human Rights Commission and MOL, WSIB.· Complete, maintain and monitor accurate production records and departmental documents for audit purposes.Qualifications and Experience:· 3 - 5 years of proven working experience in managing seafood or food processing and production.· Excellent analytical, problem solving and organizational skills.· Ability to work independently and handle multiple projects.· Works well with Sales and Logistics in a dynamic environment.· Excellent planning and resource allocation skills.· Strong quantitative and critical thinking skills.· Proven leadership skills and team building abilities.· Possess a calm demeanor while working under pressure.· 5+ years of forklift experience.Physical Abilities:· Must be able to sit for long periods of time.· Must be able to stand for long periods of time.· Must be able to bend, lift and twist.· Must be physically fit in order to operate a Forklift.· Must be able to lifts up to 50lbs.Accessibility for Manitobans Act:Presteve Foods is an inclusive employer that is committed to promoting dignity, equal opportunity, and integration within the workplace.
