Employment OpportunitySheridan Nurseries Glen Williams Farm is actively searching for a:Quality Control SpecialistPermanent, Full TimeAbout the JobReporting to the Assistant Manager of Growing, the Quality Control Specialist is responsible for ensuring the quality standards of all inbound and outbound meets our guests’ standards. The Quality Control Specialist is the leader responsible for maintaining our adherence to government pest regulations and biosecurity protocols.Your Accountabilities

  • Inspect and sign-off on the quality of product being received, documenting any quality concerns related to the received product
  • Liaison with government agencies (CFIA, OMAFRA, CNLA, etc.) on pest issues and import/export protocol
  • Maintain, develop, and ensure compliance with Government Pest Programs (Japanese Beetle, Spongy Moth, etc.) and Biosecurity Protocols
  • Maintain and ensure compliance with all documented SOPs as written. Train staff on protocols and record keeping
  • Assist with storage and care of received resale product
  • Maintain a high level of communication between farm managers and purchasing teams to keep them informed of quality of product arriving at farm
  • Organize and maintain a clean and safe working environment, promoting safety awareness through training and regular meetings
  • Other duties and projects as assigned
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Post-secondary education with a focus on Biology, Plant Sciences or Horticulture
  • Experience with Integrated Pest Management (IPM) and pest diagnosis
  • Strong computer skills are a necessity for this role, including MS Office
  • High standard of professionalism with excellent communication, time management, and organizational skills
  • Detail oriented, with a commitment to accuracy
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, handling multiple demands, setting priorities, and exhibiting strong problem-solving skills
  • Resourceful and self-directed with the ability to build strong partnerships and work collaboratively with others to achieve goals
  • Interpersonal skills to maintain respectful relationships with sales, purchasing, production, and other departments
  • You are punctual and dependable and highly value honesty, integrity, and authenticity
  • This role will require the flexibility to work a variety of shifts including day, evening, weekends, and holidays as seasonal peaks require
  • This position requires periods of walking and standing, as well as the ability to lift 50lbs and work in various weather conditions and environments
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada
