Job Description

DescriptionReporting to the Controller, the Financial Analyst is directly responsible for managing cost accounting activities, financial analysis and other miscellaneous accounting functions.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintains proper level of understanding of changing and expanding manufacturing operations for effective evaluation and development of standard costs
  • Participation in annual budgeting & quarterly forecasts
  • Perform month-end duties including journal entries, report preparation and reconciliations
  • Fixed Asset Administration; tracking of capital spending, capitalization, disposals and audits
  • Sarbanes Oxley Compliance Audits
  • Compile daily, weekly, and monthly plant metrics reports with investigation of unusual numbers and variances
  • Analyze plant EBITDA on an ongoing basis to project monthly and quarterly results
  • Review, interpret and communicate the business’ results, ensuring that financial results and variances are explained completely and accurately
  • Follow-up and resolution of outstanding purchase orders, receiving, and invoicing
  • Review of the business’ financial reporting systems and policies, amending current practices where appropriate to ensure accuracy of reporting
  • Monitoring of the businesses annual budget to ensure cost-effective management
  • Adapts to conflicting deadlines and priorities established by company demands
  • Make recommendations for changes and improvements to overall efficiency of department, establishes procedures for new systems or reports that are assigned
  • Project code set up and project reporting
  • Involvement in Intercompany transaction resolution
  • Works on special projects / cross functional teams as required
  • Back up coverage for Controller
  • Other duties as required
QualificationsRequired education and/or Experience:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance required
  • CPA Designation or working towards CPA designation (PEP level) preferred
  • Minimum 2 years accounting experience in a standard costing environment an asset
  • Experience in Automotive manufacturing cost accounting preferred
  • Strong MS suite products
  • SAP Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred

  • Sound business decision-making skills
  • Ability to stand alone Business Acumen: Financial, Analytical Ability to explain complex financial concepts to non-financial partners
  • Strong communication skills and capable of interacting with all levels of the business
