George Pegg Botanic GardenStudent summer employment opportunity- Garden Supervisor*The George Pegg Botanic Garden Society is accepting applications for enthusiastic students who enjoy working with people and being outdoors. The work involves a focus on landscape maintenance, botany, and historic conservation.Responsibilities· Landscape care of the historic plant collection and general site maintenance· Garden tasks include weeding, watering, planting, and maintaining a plant database· Conservation projects include developing onsite and digital interpretative displays· Other duties include restoration work for historic plantings, presenting school programs, event planning, leading site tours, and supervision of Garden AssistantsEmployee reports to the Garden HorticulturistQualifications· Applicants must be 15-30 years old (inclusive) and be full-time students intending to return to school in the autumn. Full eligibility requirements available on request. (Depending on the grant funding, there may be no school requirements.)· Experience in landscape maintenance, botany, or heritage conservation an asset. On-the-job training is provided for tasks specific to the landscape industry· Ability to work both independently and with others.
