Apprentice Welder #39;s Helper - Oil and Gas Facility and Pipeline ConstructionLocation:Location: Grande PrairieProjects Northern Alberta and British ColumbiaPosition Summary: The Apprentice Welder #39;s Helper will work closely with experienced welders and other tradespeople to assist in the welding processes required for the construction and maintenance of oil and gas facilities and pipelines. This entry-level position provides invaluable hands-on experience and learning opportunities within the oil and gas industry.Key Responsibilities:

  1. Assist welders in setting up equipment and preparing the work area for welding operations.
  2. Handle tools, materials, and welding consumables as directed.
  3. Ensure all welding equipment is properly maintained and stored after use.
  4. Prepare and clean materials for welding, which may involve grinding, cutting, or fitting components.
  5. Maintain a safe work environment by adhering to all safety protocols and regulations.
  6. Help with the transportation and setting up of welding machines and equipment at various job sites.
  7. Observe welding processes, learning techniques, and best practices from skilled welders.
  8. Assist in post-welding tasks, such as cleaning, inspecting, and coating welds.
  9. Participate in job safety meetings and training sessions.
  10. Perform other duties as assigned to support the welding team and broader project goals.
Qualifications:
  1. High school diploma or equivalent.
  2. Interest in pursuing a career in welding or a related field.
  3. Basic knowledge of welding techniques and safety protocols is an advantage but not essential.
  4. Strong commitment to safety, with the ability to follow strict safety guidelines and procedures.
  5. Physical stamina and ability to lift heavy objects, stand for extended periods, and work in varying weather conditions.
  6. Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment.
  7. Good communication skills and the ability to follow directions accurately.
Operational Environment:
  • The position may require working in diverse weather conditions, occasionally at heights, and possibly in confined spaces.
  • The role entails physical tasks such as lifting and handling tools and machinery.
  • Usage of safety gear is compulsory during work hours.
