Pay Rate: $94,400 - $125,900 Multiple factors, including Individual experience, skills and abilities will determine where an employee is ultimately placed in the pay range.Category/Shift: Salaried Full-TimePhysical Location: International Paper Grande Prairie Pulp Mill 53024A Resources Road County of Grande Prairie No.1 Directions: Travel 12 kms south of Grande Prairie on Resources Road.The Job You Will Perform: The Health and Safety Manager at International Paper’s Grande Prairie Mill will provide leadership, coordination and technical expertise in the area of health and safety. This position will be responsible for establishing reliable and sustainable methods for improving safety performance, nourishing a culture in which safety is an overriding value in all activities and in which every team member assumes accountability for safety, and assuring compliance with regulatory requirements.Provide leadership and management support of the Health and Safety Teams. Develop, implement and maintain effective safety systems, programs, and training to support a safe and injury-free work environment through compliance with health and safety legislation and IP corporate policies. Manage safety initiative process and tracking systems, including serious injury prevention, leading indicators tracking program, critical health and safety gap assessment and closure. Coordinate health and safety audit programs and corrective actions. Support safety incident investigation processes, including leading investigations, investigation reviews and corrective action planning. Develop and implement effective safety training programs. Provide leadership and coordinate efforts to drive continual improvement of health and safety program effectiveness. Provide functional expertise and strategic direction to achieve our vision of an accident free workplace while positively affecting profitability and operational excellence. Facilitate safety best practices sharing between departments and the enterprise. Oversight of the safety incident analysis process including quality assurance, corrective action tracking and effectiveness audits. Demonstrating a personal commitment to safety excellence by providing visible and active leadership in delivering safety results. Establishing a high standard of behavior for all employees and managers reinforced through feedback and coaching. Engage and empower mill employees to take personal ownership for safety results. Supporting established safety teams to accomplish their mission. Oversight of the industrial hygiene and ergonomics programs. Response team coordination including staffing and training. Oversight of the risk management program and provide. Facilitate the inspection, maintenance and availability of the mill fire protection equipment.The Skills You Will Bring:7+ years of H amp;S experience in manufacturing or industrial areas Working knowledge of OHS regulations; expert knowledge preferred A bachelor’s degree in occupational health and safety or technical certification with significant related experience and exposure to industry requirements. CRSP designation is preferred. A demonstrated strong propensity to lead based on successful leadership experience. Strong interpersonal skills and a developed competency to influence others. Demonstrated ability to build and lead cross-functional teams. Strong communication skills (verbal and written.) Must be an effective listener. Clear ability to manage and coordinate multiple projects and deadlines. An ability to manage change and conflict. Established skill to execute work based on standards, procedures and systems. Process safety management exposure is an asset.
