Above all else, we believe in doing the right thing for our people, our communities and our planet.Reporting into the Senior Director, Culinary Innovation and the VP Marketing, Swiss Chalet the Corporate Chef, Swiss Chalet is responsible for executing all brand culinary innovation and optimization projects as well as contributing to efficient kitchen operations and equipment innovation to effectively deliver the brand’s promise to the brand’s key target segments. The Corporate Chef, Swiss Chalet’s primary focus will be to work alongside the Marketing Food lead, Sourcing Business Partners and external vendors to effectively deliver new menu innovation that meets the brand’s business objectives, cost parameters and operational constraints, while focusing on leveraging the preparation and ingredients of core menu items.What you will do in this role:Support Operational Team with menu innovation and optimization to improve quality of existing items, reduce costs, ease execution and increase speed to service the GuestMaintain and leverage actionable insights from a recipe cost file to generate efficiencies and uncover opportunities within the culinary offeringsProvide recipes to Brand Assistant for nutritional and allergen creationParticipate in new equipment innovation that supports culinary brand priorities, with specific involvement in the new Swiss Chalet concept kitchen designEnsure culinary execution (quality, temperature, travel ability) of menu regarding on-premise plateware and off-premise packagingSupport the Training Team on new menu innovation by providing culinary training videosProvide culinary support at marketing photoshoots and TV shootsWork with the St. Hubert Retail team to assist in the development process of Swiss Chalet retail products to ensure products meet brand standards and culinary innovationAttend weekly cross-functional team meetings and bi-weekly leadership team meetings to ensure projects are on track and communication is clear amongst key stakeholdersAct as the co-owner of Innovation Food Shows, executed for both the Swiss Chalet Home Office Team and the Franchisee Sub-Committee.Work alongside Marketing Food lead to create scope, menu items and supporting presentation decks to seek necessary alignment and buy-inEnsure menu effectively meets all regulatory Health & Safety standardsWhat we are looking for from you:Minimum of 5-7 years experience in related food service or multi-unit restaurant chain culinary developmentUniversity Degree or College DiplomaExperience in kitchen design and equipment innovationExperience in a collaborative development environment, including food shows/taste panels and incorporating constructive feedback into product revisionsWorking knowledge of Quality Control programs (HACCP and Food Safety)Excellent verbal and written communication skillsAbility to assess and rationalize the food development processExcellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple projects with competing deadlinesExcellent analytical, negotiating and conflict resolution skillsSelf-starter and results orientedAbility to effectively collaborate cross-functionally with different teams across the organizationProficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and GoogleMust have a reliable vehicle to conduct restaurant visits and attend food showsWhat’s in it for you:You’d be joining a close-knit, innovative team of creative and energetic go-gettersYou’d be a part of Canada’s largest full-service restaurant company that leads the industry in size and innovation20% employee discount dining card valid at participating Recipe brands in addition to a monthly dining allowanceA welcoming, fun and safe work environment founded on respectCareer advancement opportunities with a company that owns some of Canada’s most iconic restaurant brandsIndustry-leading benefits, wellness programs, and total rewards programsRecipe is committed to providing a diverse, equitable and inclusive workplace.
