Job Description

This is a 100% in-office role located in West Toronto. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of success leading a team as a Marketing and Communications Manager. This role is hands-on and diverse, a generalist of sorts that is comfortable creating and implementing strategy with a hands-on technical aptitude.Our client is literally on the move! They are one of the fastest-growing big-box specialty chains in Canada, and are the undisputed leader in the development, construction and operation of their multi-unit operations in their category. They are opening new locations and expanding their leadership teams. They are seeking a Communications Manager who is an excellent writer and editor with the ability to dive deep into complex benefits programs in order to translate complex concepts into clear, concise, user-friendly content and communications (external and internal). You will have experience writing and producing various types of communications across a variety of channels. You are self-motivated, proactive, and resourceful in finding detours around obstacles. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment and is effective at juggling multiple projects and deadlines while maintaining a sharp attention to detail and high standards. You work collaboratively, are eager to learn about our business, and willing to roll up your sleeves and get work doneDESCRIPTION

  • Manage social media channels for our multiple business segments; example but not limited to Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. Create content calendar, write/design posts, monitor interaction and report on monthly results.
  • Write compelling and effective copy that resonates with diverse audiences across a variety of marketing channels.
  • Support Director, Marketing on instore, store development, openings and special events.
  • Develop creative concepts for corporate events and gifts, lead event planning and coordination.
  • Press releases: create content, write releases, distribute and follow-up. Report outcomes including clippings.
  • Own pre-production and publishing of communications and materials using internal and external communication tools according to business need and established editorial calendar.
  • Develop and implement new marketing initiatives in order to create business relationships that align with the team’s strategic goals.
  • Coordinate and manage marketing campaigns, track guest activity and produce campaign reports for business development purposes.
  • Graphic design forboth print and web marketing in accordance with brand guidelines.
  • Design and produce brochures, flyers, proposals, presentations, and any other required sales/marketing material.
  • Develop creative concepts for corporate events and gifts, lead event planning and coordination
  • Support in-store/divisional activations with invitations, collateral, signage and potential media.
Primary Objectives:
  • Work collaboratively with the Director to develop and implement an integrated communications and marketing strategy that grows audience awareness, supports income generation and builds a positive agency brand.
  • Excellence in writing, research, editing and proofreading
  • Proficiency in strategic planning, project management, and execution
  • Strong comfort level working with senior leaders in a fast-paced environment, and an equally strong ability to analyze and articulate complex situations and issues
  • Strong ability to adapt to a challenging and variable work environment, multi-task, manage multiple ongoing requests, prioritize projects, and meet tight deadlines
  • Excellent ability to manage organizational challenges and experience in communications management related to acquisitions
  • Outstanding skills in drafting communication plans, bulletins, articles, presentations, communication toolkits, speeches, and other documents
  • Solid understanding of communications and project management tools such as Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, PowerPoint, and Excel (Adobe Creative Suite is a major asset)
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with a variety of stakeholders and build business partnerships
  • Other assets include: French proficiency, Adobe Creative Suite, familiarity with the retail, hospitality, and real estate/development sector.
Education & Experience:
  • Minimum of 3-5 years’ marketing leadership experience
