Sacred Waters is the economic development arm of the Katzie, Kwantlen and Semiahmoo Nations – pursuing sustainable projects and opportunities for the Nations within their shared and unceded traditional territories. We are in the initial stages with some large projects on the horizon and do not even have a website yet!Right now, we are urgently looking for an experienced and enthusiastic finance professional to join our team in the key position of Director of Finance. We would love to speak with you if you have varied experience with corporate investments or at a minimum, you have proven experience with bonds, debentures, and financial reporting. Construction and/or development industry experience is a necessity as we need someone who can bring relevant industry experience to the role.Reporting to the CEO, the successful candidate will oversee Sacred Waters Developments financial frame and long-term model, lead the planning an execution of corporate structuring and financing strategies, and maintain important strategic relationships with external parties. You will be responsible for shaping the financial future of the organization. We thank all who apply.Who we are: In 2022, the Katzie, Kwantlen and Semiahmoo Nations established Sacred Waters, a joint economic development company, to build the Nations’ capacity to benefit from economic development opportunities within the shared territory. Sacred Waters is intended to play a role in this journey through real estate development, establishing strategic and sustainable ventures aligned with Nation’s needs and the creation of partnerships to achieve these ambitions. As Coast Salish people, the relationship between the Katzie, Kwantlen, and Semiahmoo First Nations is based on a shared language, similar cultural and spiritual practices, a strong connection to the land, and broad kinship ties that stretch back millennia. Individual members of each community will often have family ties connecting them to neighboring Nations. In modern times, the kinship ties between the three Nations continues to shape their relationship to each other and the larger world around them. For several years, Katzie, Kwantlen and Semiahmoo have worked to strengthen their working relationship, advance joint economic development opportunities within the shared territory.The three Nations are committed to cooperation and further strengthening their working relationship to better advance their shared rights and title interests. This important work is an essential part of honouring the commitment and sacrifices of the Nations’ ancestors and ensuring that future generations will be able to live happy, secure, and prosperous lives on their traditional and unceded lands.
