Job Description

St. Paul’s Foundation is seeking a collaborative Finance Officer to join our finance team. You will become an integral part of the Foundation at an exciting time in our history: we’re on the cusp of building an incredible new hospital, research complex, and health campus. Please note: this is a 3-year term position, with the possibility of a 2-year extension. Our Ideal Candidate:You are an organized and self-motivated accounting professional looking to further your career at a highly-respected fundraising organization. Working with the Foundation’s finance, donations, and database teams, your key strengths will include a mastery of Microsoft Office, keen attention to detail, and the ability to multi-task.Responsibilities:Grant ManagementWork with the Grants Finance Manager to ensure all grants are reviewed with the CFO and lead fundraiser within the required timeframes over the life cycle of the grant.Pre-award:

  • Understanding granting agency allowable expenditures and reporting requirements.
  • Working collaboratively with SPF’s development team, other SPF teams, and Providence Health Care centres to review grant applications and agreements, including budgets.
Post-award:
  • Reviewing all grant disbursements.
  • Ensuring reporting requirements, and financial and project updates, are communicated to SPF teams and grant holders.
  • Working collaboratively with SPF teams and grant holders to complete and review grant financial and activity reports.
  • Responding to granting agency queries about financial reporting.
  • Coordinating with PHC centres, grant holders, and SPF donor relations for stewardship reporting requirements.
  • Track the life cycle of all grants including applications, reporting, project updates, disbursements, and payments.
Finance
  • Preparation of monthly donation reconciliation.
  • Preparation of reporting for raffles held by the Foundation, to be submitted to the Gaming Policyamp; Enforcement Branch.
  • Updating the investments spreadsheets on monthly basis for preparation of journal entries.
  • Assisting in the preparation of monthly financial reporting package.
  • Assisting in the preparation of audit working papers related to grants and investments.
  • Other duties, as required.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum 3 years’ relevant professional experience with a post-secondary degree or diploma.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Bookkeeping or basic accounting.
  • Grant experience preferred.
  • Not-for-profit accounting experience preferred.
  • Experience with PeopleSoft and/or Raiser’s Edge will be considered assets.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, able to multi-task, enjoy working independently and as part of a team.
  • Able to work within tight deadlines.
  • Sound judgment, tact, and the ability to handle confidential and sensitive material with discretion.
