Job Description Summary STEMCELL is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced mechanical engineer to join our growing Instrumentation team! As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will lead the design and development of mechanical and electro-mechanical laboratory automation systems and consumables from initial concept to manufacturing, launch and maintenance throughout the product life cycle. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a creative, multidisciplinary team and deliver innovative solutions for the biotech industry.Job Description Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform mechanical design, development and testing of new laboratory automation systems, sub-systems and consumables
• Draw up and review system specifications, risk assessments, and development plans
• Assist upper level management as a technical specialist on application of advanced concepts, principles, and methodology
• Estimate project timelines and resource requirements; identify and resolve roadblocks
• Lead design reviews on areas that affect the product life cycle such as manufacturing, service, regulations, troubleshooting, upgrades, backwards compatibility, competing technology and obsolescence

Knowledge and Qualifications

• Bachelor #39;s degree with 10+ years of relevant experience or a Masters degree with 7+ years of relevant experience
• Strong mechanical design and testing experience preferably in medical devices or consumables
• Advanced knowledge of mechanical prototyping, fabrication, and finishing techniques for plastics, metals and non-metals, including industry best practices
• Familiarity with injection molding and/or metrology
• Project management and planning experience

For jobs that are eligible for sales incentives, the range noted above is inclusive of target incentives; actual incentives are based on individual performance results in accordance with company policy.
