This may remain in place until physical distancing advisories are lifted.Due to present physical distancing requirements related to COVID-19, the recruitment process for this competition may take place virtually.Make a difference in this rewarding career opportunityThe goals of BC Parks are to promote and support conservation initiatives and to enhance outdoor recreation opportunities in parks and protected areas; and, to provide unique outdoor experiences in British Columbia’s parks and protected areas system to support healthy communities, tourism and the BC economy.The Regional Planning Section Head is responsible for leading BC Parks’ regional planning program in all aspects of strategic and land use components of operational planning for parks and protected areas. The Regional Planning Section Head provides vision, anticipates future needs, is the regional lead for land use planning, contributes to the development of the provincial planning program, coordinates regional involvement in First Nations initiatives and treaty negotiations, and is the primary contact for planning functions with staff, agencies, the public and industry. The Regional Planning Section Head recognizes the interdisciplinary nature of their functions and ensures close coordination of their role across the Conservation, Operations, and Recreation Sections in region and between regions, headquarters and other government agencies.
