For more information, visit ourchildrensmedicine.caThe Early Child Development Worker assists with the development and delivery of culturally appropriate, programming,providing support for families with infants and children up to age 6. This worker will engage families and childrenfostering improved development of physical, intellectual, social, spiritual and emotional well-being using the six (6)components of Aboriginal Head Start: Language and Culture; Nutrition; Education; Health Promotion; Social Support and Parental and Family Involvement.The Registered Early Childhood Educator will adhere to the College of Early Childhood Educators Code of Ethics andStandards of Practice.Closing Date: October 27, 2022.Miigwech to all who apply, only those candidates selected for an interview will be contacted.REQUIREMENTS

  • Self-Identify as First Nations, Metis, or Inuit
  • Strong oral/written communication skills
  • Must possess a College Diploma in Early Childhood Education from an Ontario College of Applies Arts and
  • Technology OR a diploma from a recognized post-secondary program recognized by the College of Early Childhood Educators OR a letter of recognition of equivalency issued by the Association of Early Childhood Educators of Ontario (AECEO)
  • At least one (1) year of practical experience in a licensed child care setting
  • A good working knowledge of the “How Does Learning Happen” pedagogy
  • A good working knowledge of the Early Learning Framework
  • A good working knowledge of the programming available within the Mississaugas of the Credit Organization
  • Knowledge of services available in Haldimand and Norfolk
  • Knowledge of Ojibwe culture
  • Solid background in computers with specific knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Understanding of the Child Youth and Family Services Act
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Must be willing to work flexible hours
  • Strong facilitation skills
  • Ability to work cooperatively with other staff and management
  • Ability to relate effectively to community members
  • Reliable
  • Flexible in receiving assignments or adapting to innovations in the program
  • Must be a member in good standing of the College of Early Childhood Educators
  • Must have a valid Driver’s License and be willing to upgrade to an F license.
  • Must have a satisfactory result from a Criminal Record Check including a vulnerable sector check.
  • Certification in First Aid and CPR or willingness to obtain at the first available course offering
  • Will hold a car seat safety technician certificate or be willing to obtain.
  • Certification in First Aid and CPR or willingness to obtain at the first available course offering
  • Must have a Safe Food Handler’s Certificate or be willing to obtain one
  • Ability to facilitate small groups
