Job Description

Job Summary: The Individual Developmental Worker (IDW) is responsible for, providing support services to assist with the personal and medical needs of the child requiring support. The IDW will provide appropriate support for inclusion of the child within the center. Providing both medical and developmental care and support for a child with special needs. In addition, provide the services of a Child Care Assistant when the child is not in attendance to support the children and staff of Ekwaamjigenang Children’s Centre (ECC) or Maawdoo Maajaamin Child Care (MMCC).Closing Date: June 2, 2022 at 12:00pmContract Term: Three (3) Year Contract, with the possibility of extension.Please submit your cover letter, resume, and three current references when submitting Application.REQUIREMENTS

  • Education and Experience
  •  Must be a graduate of the Personal Support Worker college program, a Developmental Service Worker,
  • Registered Early Childhood Educator or a comparable program.
  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
    • Computer knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
    • Knowledge of universal precautions
    • Must have good conflict resolution skills
    • Ability to write/record in a comprehensive and concise manner
    • Must have an ability to work with a variety of other professionals in the field, team members and families
  • on an ongoing basis
    • Must have a warm, supportive attitude toward children
    • Must be reliable
    • Must be flexible in receiving assignments or adapting to innovations in the program
    • Must be willing to accept supervision and constructive criticism to enhance work performance
    • Must be willing to work in conditions involving exposure to: bodily fluids, infectious diseases, frequent
  • high noise levels and occasional inclement weather
    • Ability to work cooperatively with other staff and management
    • Ability to relate effectively to community members
    • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Other Requirements
    • Safe Food Handlers course or willingness to enroll at first available course offering
    • Must be willing to work flexible hours, including evenings and occasional weekends.
    • Must have a satisfactory result from a Criminal Record Check including a vulnerable sector check.
    • First Aid and CPR certification Level C with infant child CPR and AED Training.
  • Assets
    • Two years’ experience in the health care field or working with special needs children
    • Experience working with First Nations and familiar with social issues pertaining to First Nations.
    • Knowledge of the Personal Health Information Privacy Act
    • WHMIS Training
