Our priorities are to be client focused, to support our people, to build sustainably, and to advance reconciliation throughout Yukon.This opportunity…Transportation Aviation Branch (TAB) is responsible for the management, development and maintenance of the Yukon Territory Aviation System which includes the Erik Nielsen Whitehorse International Airport (ENWIA), four community airports and 24 aerodromes. Driven by a commitment to safety and security, efficient and effective programing, and progressive leadership, TAB is a dedicated and professional team.The Southern Airports Duty Manager is key member of TAB’s Community Airports team, and proactively manages airside developments and operations for the Watson Lake Airport and seventeen southern aerodromes. This position works in close partnership with TAB team members, other government departments, regulators, carriers and community stakeholders to ensure a safe and efficient air transportation system. TAB seeks a collaborative and progressive leader who is interested in a unique opportunity to develop and manage one airport and seventeen aerodromes in the Southern Yukon.If you are interested in this opportunity, please review this information: Apply on a job | Government of YukonEssential Qualifications (what we’re looking for in your resume):

  • Training or post-secondary degree, diploma or certificate in subjects such as Aviation Management, Business Administration or Safety Administration.
  • Experience supervising, managing and directing staff and contractors.
  • Experience critically reviewing, precisely writing and systematically implementing operations manuals and procedures.
  • Experience conducting site inspections, identifying deficiencies, providing recommendations and implementing solutions.
  • Experience proactively and productively collaborating with a wide audience of stakeholders and general public members.
  • NAV CANADA Observer Communicator or Flight Service Specialist training and experience.

  • On the Job Instructor training and experience.
  • Airside Vehicle Operator Permit and experience driving on airside.
  • Industry Canada Restricted Radio Operator’s Course with Aeronautical Qualification and experience communicating on radios.
Conditions of Employment
  • Possess and maintain a valid Yukon Class 5 Driver’s Licence or higher qualification.
  • Acquire Transport Canada Aerodrome Security Clearance (within 8 months of hire).
Job Requirements
  • Overnight travel by road throughout Yukon in various weather conditions approximately one week every two months.
  • Occasional travel by small aircraft.
