L3HARRIS WESCAM DivisionBurlington, OntarioAbout L3HARRIS WESCAMAs a subsidiary of L3Harris Technologies and within the Integrated Mission Systems Segment, the WESCAM division develops the most advanced optical sensor and targeting systems for global defense and military sectors, National Security, Search & Rescue and Airborne law enforcement agencies. From long-range covert surveillance missions to search and rescue operations, our MX-series systems, and the mission systems solutions they are a part of, produce stabilized high-magnification electro1-optical and infrared images from airborne, marine and ground based platforms, enabling our customers to see first and act first.About the RoleThe Configuration Management Analyst role is responsible for the Configuration Management (CM) activities, which ensure that all CM functions relative to identification, configuration change, status accounting and audits are maintained in accordance with contractual requirements, CM practices, and QA standards.Primary ResponsibilitiesManages Engineering Change requests (ECR’s), and variances- deviations/waivers (DW’s) from initiation through disposition (assessment phase) by performing the following tasks:Reviews and perform analysis of the proposed changes and variances to determine impact and identify affected projects/ customers & ensure that contractual requirements for configuration are fulfilled; collaborate with Program Office to identify Customer’s with special Configuration Requirements. When required ensure adequate information is available for customer review and approval;Assigning the proper ECR category, class of change and priority;Participates and provides input to the Technical review boards (TRB meetings) and ensure the proposed changes are fully developed /assed from technical perspective and all the affected parts /documents are listed on the ECR;Resolving any clarity issues with the Change Owner concerning, ECR’s description, proposed solution, key timing factors and needs, affected customers/suppliers, impacted items, data sets and sites.Ensuring Cost estimates are performed and included for each ECR;In collaboration with the cross functional groups define schedule impact, proposed effectivity, and work with Operations groups to determine most economical implementation for the change to occur (using Impact Matrix);Prepare ECR for CRB meeting review by checking that forms are filled in correctly, appropriate signatures have been acquired, and sufficient information is available for CRB members to make an adequate business decision (benefits vs cost) for the proposed changes;Facilitates/chairs the Configuration Review Board (CRB) meetings; preparing/recording/distributing the agenda/ minutes and guiding the resolution for the presented proposed changes. Chair NPI CRB and approve changes; ensure that changes have no impact to sustaining programs;Troubleshoot and resolve discrepancies related to serialization between PLM and ERP;Perform Configuration Status Accounting tasks in TeamCenter PLM to record product configuration information;Record data related to product configuration, changes and variances in Teamcenter PLM;Quarterly report on outstanding ECO’s, ECR’s, Deviations and Waivers;Manages the front end of the Change process for solving problems and initiating improvements;Assist with the CM procedures maintenance and ensure CM Portal in PLM is up to date;Regular interface with internal customers to coordinate priorities; investigate and provide problem resolution to any configuration issues flagged by internal customers;Provide guidance to internal customers or other CM team members on CM processes and concepts;Support the development/implementation of the departmental projects;Support the FCA/PCA activities as requiredRequired CapabilitiesExperienced professional with proficient knowledge of job areaPractical knowledge of project managementStrong attention to detail and a schedule driven mind set;An effective communicator, able to articulate complex solutions clearly and concisely;Highly developed analytical and problem solving skills;Ability to interpret engineering documentation, terminology and processes;Exercises independent judgment in selecting and interpreting information with a CM mind set, handling deviations from standard methods and resolving difficulties;Comfortable and effective within a fast paced business environment with rapidly changing, or at times, competing priorities;Self-starter with ability to work on their own, and within a cross functional team;High level of self-motivation, initiative and tenacity to follow through;Working knowledge of automated CM tools (PLM or other ERP applications);Ability to obtain and maintain Controlled Goods Program clearanceDesired Education and ExperiencesBachelor’s Degree in technology or equivalent;3-5 years Configuration Management experience in a high tech industry;Minimum of 5 years of working in an Engineering environment;Practical knowledge of Project Management and Project Management tools;Complete understanding and application of Configuration Management functions, and principles (CM Industry standard EIA-649, ISO10007 etc.);CMII or CMPIC certification or other CM related Certification an asset;About L3Harris TechnologiesIn July 2019 – L3 Technologies and Harris Corp merged to become L3Harris Technologies, becoming an agile global aerospace and defense technology innovator, delivering end-to-end solutions that meet customers’ mission-critical needs.
