The director of community programs has accountability in partnership with the relevant Program/Service Directors across HHS and Vice President Executive lead for:

Position Summary1. Liaison with the following as required in matters pertaining to the administration of the site.

  • Fire Safety Marshall
  • Foundation
  • Health, Safety and Wellness

  • Physicians Chiefs

2. As Chair of Site Council in combined accountability with Directors and Managers
  • Review subcommittee progress
  • Monitor site environment and ensure problems are addressed
  • Develop strategies to improve and monitor the site performance
  • Endorse staff moral and advocate staff focused events
  • Evaluate impact of program decisions on site operations
  • Assess communication, education and understandings as required
  • Ensure compliance with Ministry of Labour and Hamilton Fire Department
3. As Chair of Emergency Disaster Management
  • Ensure site preparedness to respond to emergencies and disasters
  • Participate in the HHS Emergency Disaster Management Steering Committee
  • Function as the Site incident Manager in Code events that impact the site
(eg. Orange, green, grey, aqua, black, red, purple, silver)
  • Coordinate code debriefings and monitor / report progress of action plan
  • Initiate Everbridge mass notification as required
  • Function as the site IMS Incident Manager in the Site Command Centre
4. As Chair of the Site Bed Management Committee (or equivalent committee) and in combined accountability with Directors, Managers, and Site Administrative Manager (SAM)
  • Monitor access to care
  • Participate in corporate bed management exercise (ie Gridlock)
  • Facilitate bed management in accordance with corporate bed management policy
  • Engage with external partners (LHIN, CCAC) as appropriate, regarding patient flow, referral, and repatriation
  • Liaise between programs and other site administrators
  • Maintain Site Bed Map
  • Create a forum for discussion of site resources and action planning / implementations pertaining to bed management
  • Evaluate progress of past and present site initiatives and impel future initiatives
5. Lead the allocation of Site Capital Contingency Funds and coordination of site related issues.6. Liaise with various Site Administrators to review organizational consistency and opportunity for improvement.Schedule Work HoursMonday to Friday daysQualifications
  • Masters degree or Advanced Practice preparation in a health profession
  • 5-10 years progressive line management in health care
  • Strong foundation/knowledge in strategic planning, systems thinking, healthcare landscape in national, provincial and local environments
  • Leadership :
  • Ability to think strategically and plan at a systems level
  • Application of relational leadership approaches; able to articulate, influence and execute a vision for the Program’s strategic and operational plans
  • Engender trust and credibility among internal and external colleagues/stakeholders
  • Coaching/mentorship of colleagues, direct reports and frontline staff
  • Ability to mobilize people to a common goal
