We would love for you to join our team!Are you the one we’re looking forWe are seeking a dynamic, highly motivated Early Years Float who demonstrates our values of compassion, accountability, responsiveness and empowerment; to our clients, families and each other.The Early Years Float is to deliver Early Years services in EarlyON Child and Family Centres and/or licensed child care programs. Shifts will cover program operating hours from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. and all program operating days.This position is a unionized, permanent, full-time position. The rate of pay varies by program: EarlyON program: $21.57 per hour, Licensed Child Care program: $17.58 per hour, and Care for Newcomers program: $20.37 per hour. Wage enhancement is available in addition to the rate of pay based on criteria and funding available from the City of Hamilton.Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, plan, promote, implement and evaluate day to day operations of the programs with the support of the Supervisor, Early Years and other staff.
  • Plan and implement programming based on the Ministry of Education’s pedagogy “How Does Learning Happen”
  • Create and maintain a safe learning environment that is responsive to the interests and needs of the children in the program.
  • Be familiar with and adhere to licensing requirements per the Ministry of Education, Child Care and Early Years Act (2014) and ensure program needs are being met in compliance with program licensing requirements.
  • Be familiar with and adhere to the EarlyON Child and Family Centre mandate, services and procedures.
  • Provide current and relevant information to parents/caregivers about services in the community and at Wesley that may address their needs and make appropriate referrals as required.
  • Facilitate engaging programs and/or workshops in the EarlyON Child and Family Centre.
  • Welcome, support and interact with clients, remembering to be sensitive to all families including those culturally diverse, LGBTQ, young parents, etc.
  • Uphold all standards legislated by Hamilton Board of Health, Fire Code, as well as Ministry of Education (MEDU).
  • Other duties as assigned.
What you will bring:
  • Diploma or degree in Early Childhood Education and registration with the College of Early Childhood Educators, or equivalent.
  • Experience working in a child care setting, with parents and with community partners.
  • Experience and sensitivity working with all families including those culturally diverse, GLBTQ, young parents, etc.
  • Current First aid/CPR, Safe Food Handling Certificate, N.V.C.I. training and ECERS, SACERS training.
  • Driver’s license and a vehicle required.
