While our company has grown over the years, we’ve never lost that start-up spirit!Located in Hamilton, Ontario, we are looking for an Financial Analyst to join our Finance team. Under the supervision of the Head of Finance, the Financial Analyst is responsible for a range of basic accounting/financial analyst duties which support the Finance and Business functions.   • Assist in monthly closing process, including journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and analysis of related accounts.
  • Produce internal reporting packages for the management team as well as presentations for the entire company.
  • Financial Reporting into Hyperion. Monthly reporting includes profit & loss, balance sheet, support schedules as well as additional quarterly items.
  • Working with budget holders to assess variances in their budgets and explain opportunities for improvements.
  • Product pricing decisions, ensure products are priced to maximize margins for the business. Complete pricing tests to assess elasticity of product lines.
  • Assist the finance team with budget generation as well as annual planning.
  • Assist with updating the company’s forecast each month. Validate information from departments that would drive any changes in the plan.
  • Assess inventory and manufacturing metrics each month and work with the manufacturing team to generate efficiencies and cost savings.
  • Assist the finance team in sales reconciliations and correct any variances.
  • Work with IT to create new reporting capabilities in our business intelligence platform. Educate business stakeholders on the new reporting capabilities.
  • Assist the finance team with data entry as well as processing employee expense reports.
  • Provide administrative back up to Payroll.
  • Other items and financial support as required.
Requirements...
  • College Diploma or University Degree in finance or accounting
  • Completed or working towards a professional accounting designation (CPA) would be an asset but not required.
  • Highly organized and strong attention to detail.
  • Comfortable working with multiple systems and dealing with online transactions.
  • Computer proficiency in MS Word and Excel.
  • Experience using QuickBooks or QuickBooks Enterprise.
  • Previous experience with inventory controls and raw material costing is desirable.
  • Payroll experience is not essential but would be considered a bonus.
  • Experience with internal and external audits is also preferred.
  • Access to a reliable vehicle to complete banking needs when required.
