Hospitality embodies our Values, Responsibility, Availability, Adaptability, Quality and Dignity.How you will make an impactIn this role, you will make a difference in the lives of young people connected with Youth Services who have identified mental health needs. The Peer Support Worker provides services including one-to-one meetings and check-ins, youth-directed goal planning, advocacy, resource connection and accompaniment (as needed), group facilitation and programming, staff capacity building around peer support and lived experience perspectives, and supporting Good Shepherd Youth Services with policy, procedure, and program development. The Peer Support Worker will support youth at Notre Dame House and in the community. Through use of self and a recovery-based approach, the Peer Support Worker offers non-clinical supports to provide a sense of hope and a message of recovery while encouraging self-advocacy and autonomy.What You #39;ll Bring to Our Team

  • Post-secondary education in social services such as Social Service Worker or Child and Youth Worker is considered an asset
  • Lived experience in managing mental health, addiction issues, and /or precarious housing is required given the nature of the position.
  • Successful candidates will demonstrate experience with case management, documentation, and community development skills, as well as demonstrate a commitment to the mission values of availability, responsibility, adaptability, quality and dignity.
  • CPR certification or willingness to be certified, as well as a willingness to complete training in Peer Support Work is required.
  • Ability to speak French and/or other languages is considered an asset
HOURSInclude Monday to Friday, 10-5pm (evening work may be required based on youth/program needs)What We Offer
