Job Description

The Basic Gist: We’re not your traditional Mexican place. We just happen to think that tacos are a dish best-served fun, with a side of liquor. Welcome to The Mule, where tacos, tequila & bourbon come to party.We are Hamilton's favourite lunch spot, regular late-night haunt, and go-to destination for a great bite & drink. Our tacos range from classic Mexican to weird-and-wild-you’ve-gotta-try-this.All of our food is 100% gluten-free and we offer a variety of fare that is sure to satisfy either the most dedicated carnivore or delight your vegetarian and/or vegan side.What’s An “Other Bird”The Other Bird is a hospitality family that includes The Mule & Rapscallion & Co. (Hamilton, ON), Burro (Burlington, ON), Hunter & Co. (London, ON), and the boutique Arlington Hotel & Dominion Telegraph Event Centre (Paris, ON).We are a young, growing, and fun-loving company that believes in providing amazing culinary and service experiences.The Job: We are looking for a new support staff member to join our team. What is a support staff member you ask You would wear a couple of hats including, host, food runner, busser, bar back and you would be responsible for:

  • Being passionate about delivering the best experience through attentive and friendly service
  • Greeting all guests as they walk through the restaurant
  • Managing and prioritizing the restaurant waitlist, and ensure the front door is manned effectively
  • Answering any incoming phone calls and politely answer any questions to the best of your ability
  • Following all company safety and sanitation policies and procedures
  • Responsible for cleanliness and stocking of service areas throughout the shift
  • Emptying trash and spot sweeps whenever floor needs it
  • Performing opening and closing responsibilities in a timely and detailed manner
  • Ensuring all food is properly presented prior to running it out to a guest
  • Delivering food to tables and ensures guests have all they need
  • Bussing and resetting tables with a sense of urgency
  • Offering assistance to guests by clearing away dishes, glassware, and refilling beverages if needed
  • Contributing to a friendly & cooperative work environment by assisting all other team members as needed
  • Receiving direction from The Mule's Management team.
The ideal candidate will have:
  • SmartServe Certification is required.
  • Evening & Weekend work availability is required
  • Front-of-House restaurant experience, specifically in hosting, food-running or bar-backing will be an asset.
