Apply by August 2, 2023, and tell us what excites you about this role.We are currently looking for a Field Supervisor, Inspection Services to join our Inspection services team in a permanent position. Reporting to the Operations Manager, Meter, Inspection and Planning Services, you will be responsible for ensuring that work is completed in a safe, efficient manner as well as being responsible for ensuring work execution is completed as planned with quality and accuracy, while delivering exceptional service to our customers.As Field Supervisor you will:

  • Be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of all wiring inspection and complex metering field personnel within the jurisdiction of the Inspection Agency. These duties may include but not limited to; co-ordination with the scheduling and dispatch department, vacation planning, safety training, scheduling / tracking of vehicle maintenance, time management, and inventory / material control.
  • Within their capacity, the incumbent will be responsible to provide technical support to both internal and external staff with regards to the Canadian Electrical Code Part 1, and other related Provincial Codes, Acts, and Regulations.
  • The Field Supervisor will be required to promote and ensure consistency with the application of all internal and external policies and procedures, including Regulatory and Code requirements. This will also include liaison between customers, contractors and wiring inspectors, and resolution management.
  • In addition to daily operations of the inspection function, the Field Supervisor will be required to identify and co-ordinate individual personal development training, coaching, and performance management opportunities.
  • You will service across Nova Scotia within the jurisdiction of the Inspection Agency. The position will require extensive travel throughout the assigned area, which may require overnight accommodations away from the central business location.
  • You will be responsible for your personal safety and that of your co-workers by observing all Occupational Health and Safety Rules and Regulations.
What skills will make you successfulYou recognize yourself in most of the following competencies, and where possible possess the skills and experience listed below:
  • Grade 12 or equivalent, with a minimum of 5-7 years supervisory or relevant leadership experience is required. Preference will be given to those applicants with work planning and people management experience.
  • The successful applicant must have an in-depth knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code Part 1, the Electrical Installation and Inspection Act, the Electrical Code Regulations, and the Nova Scotia Occupational Health and Safety regulations.
  • The incumbent will be detail-oriented, have strong computer skills, and the ability to multitask. They will have strong interpersonal skills as well as excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills for both internal and external customers are a requirement of this position.
  • A high energy, self-starter who enjoys working in a team environment who possesses strong analytical, problem solving and organizational skills will be a fit for this position.
