Job Description

Invites applications for the position of:Parks and Recreation - Parks Maintenance Summer StudentPosition OverviewThe Parks Maintenance Summer Student is responsible for assisting in the maintenance of Town parks,sports fields, facilities and boulevards through the performance of various activities including grass cuttingand edging, planting and weeding of flower beds, grooming of ball diamonds, garbage removal, painting, etc.The Parks Maintenance Summer Student will safely operate a variety of equipment and is responsible forsupplying his/her own steel-toe work boots. Before applying and completing the application form, pleasereview the criteria listed below to determine if you are eligible to be considered for summer studentemployment. To be deemed eligible you must be: At least 16 years of age (as of April 1, 2022) Minimum Class G2 Ontario Driver’s license in good standing. Registered as a full time student and intending to return to school on a full time basis in the Fall of 2022 Legally entitled to work in CanadaStart Date & Hours per Week 3 students starting April 1, 2022, 40 hours per week (may require evenings and weekends) 4 students starting May 3, 2022, 40 hours per week (may require evenings and weekends)Required Certifications, Licenses, Training, etc. Current level C Standard First Aid & CPR Certification. Minimum Class G2 Ontario Driver’s license in good standing.Qualifications Candidates will be selected for their positive attitude, sincere interest in enhancing and maintainingcommunity grounds and parks and their enthusiasm for working outdoors. Applicants must be available to work up to 20 consecutive weeks beginning in April or May. Previous experience in horticulture, landscaping lawn maintenance and operation of relatedequipment is considered an asset.
