Job Description

Invites applications for the position of:Behavioural Inclusion Counsellor (Summer Camp)Position OverviewWorking as part of the Town of Ingersoll’s Summer Camp team, the Behavioural Inclusion Counsellor isresponsible for planning for the inclusion and supervision of camp participants with special needs. Theincumbent will work one-on-one with parents, campers and fellow Camp Counsellors to develop individualsupport plans and interventions; provide guidance and instruction; and ensure best practices are embeddedin day camp programming.This position offers an excellent opportunity to post-secondary students currently enrolled in psychology orbehavioural sciences who are interested in obtaining valuable and meaningful work experiences in pursuit oftheir post-graduate career. To be deemed eligible you must be: between 16 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment*; a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigrationand Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment**; and, have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordancewith relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulationsStart Date & Hours per WeekSeven consecutive weeks, commencing July 4, 2022 / 40 hours per week. Mandatory planning/trainingscheduled the week of June 27, 2022.Required Certifications, Licenses, Training, etc. Current Level C Standard First Aid & CPR Certification. High Five Principles of Healthy Child Development Certification. Crisis Prevention (CPI) considered an asset. Any additional certifications demonstrating applicable experience working with children ages 4-12.Qualifications Post-secondary studies in psychology, behavioural science, or another relevant area of study,combined with previous experience working with children with inclusion/special needs. Solid understanding of inclusion methods, best practices, and approaches. Demonstrated aptitude and passion for delivering an engaging and inclusive camp experience. Exceptional leadership capabilities, sensitivity, and problem-solving skills. A commitment to health and safety and an understanding of how to mitigate against variousrisks/hazards. The ability to work collaboratively as part of a team as well as independently in an outdoor andaquatic environment.
